Resist the Devil

Posted: April 23, 2010 in God

Good morning all,

James 4:7 (Amplified Bible)

7So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you.

Submit yourselves to God and resist the devil. We understand that the evil one is always lurking about trying to get God’s people tripped up. So don’t let him have a foot hold then. Don’t make place for the devil. It’s time to stand up on your own two feet and put the devil under your feet.

Too many times the Christian let’s the devil win. What kind of authority do you have as a Christian? Who is your spiritual authority? The bible says to submit yourself to the Lord your God. That means to come to a place and spend time with Him. Submit your spirit, soul, and body to the Lord. When we do this, then we will oppose the devil. So many of us want to oppose the devil but when we try to do it out of our own strength we will lose. This is a reality check to everyone… if you’re not submitted to God and His authority, how can you take authority over the devil? You can’t! So how do I take authority? You take authority by spending time in reading God’s Word everyday, praying everyday and I don’t mean one of those 5 minute prayers. I am talking about spending genuine time with Him. You can also take great authority by fasting. Being in constant communion with the Father. So when the devil comes to steal, kill or destroy, you just stand there and so nope not going to happen today because I have been given all authority on this earth to cast you down satan and to send you back to which you came from.

Jesus did this exact thing when He encountered the Demoniac Boy in Mark 9:14-29. The Disciples were amazed and asked why they could not cast out this devil. Jesus replied because this one only comes out by fasting and prayer. Fasting and prayer is not just pray before bed or Lord help me or give me give me give me, or even just stop eating one meal or going on a diet! Praying and fasting is relationship and intimacy with the Father.

Spend time with the Lord and you will not have a problem with using your authority or with any devil from hell. Stand firm in your faith and the devil will flee.

Be blessed!
