Forgive or not to Forgive that is the Question!

Matthew 6:14-15 (NLT)

14 “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. 15 But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.

So the question is do I forgive or do I not forgive. So many times I have had people tell me that they could not forgive someone who hurt or offended them. Well here it is… If you do not forgive, your Heavenly Father will not forgive you. If you are still offended with someone then you are actually living in sin yourself. Why would I say that this is sin? Because Love always gives to benefit the One True Love. So how is your sin different then someone else’s especially if you are the one who can not forgive. Is your sin smaller than someone else’s? I think not because sin is sin is sin. I repeated that statement on purpose.

If you  don’t release someone from hurting you then you are retaining their sin in you. Think about this for just a second… You don’t want to forgive them but when you see them they are doing fine and they are not hurting or even thinking about the sin anymore. They have moved on and God is still blessing them. BUT, you still are hurting and holding it against the person and all you can think about is how they hurt you and how miserable you are. Forgiveness is not about the other person, rather forgiveness is for you so that you can be released from what they have done to you.

When you hold unforgiveness against a person it will make you bitter and it can bring all kinds of sickness on your body. Unforgiveness causes a root of bitterness. That same bitterness will cause you to walk away from God and His Word. It will trap you. The devil uses this tactic all the time. If the devil can keep you entangled in unforgiveness then he will defeat you every time. Remember this life we lead is not unto ourselves but unto the Father (God). The world always makes the statement it’s all about me, me, me. That is not a true statement at all. It is all about the Lord. So do you Love the Lord your God with all of your heart and soul and strength and mind? If so then you should be able to forgive. If you don’t forgive then one area in your life does not line up with loving the Lord God with all of your heart, soul, strength and mind. I want this to provoke you to think about how would Jesus respond to someone saying something hurtful or mean or doing something that is offensive. Jesus would continue to love and forgive.

Choose to forgive and God will forgive you. You are a blessed people so stop allowing the devil to keep you held in the bondage of unforgiveness. Tell the devil that he is not going to win and go release forgiveness to the persons that hurt you. Say this to the person that hurt you. I forgive you and I choose to forget anything that happened between us and go on and be the true friend your supposed to be. I say this because that is another characteristic of God. It is found in scripture.

Isaiah 43:25

25I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

God chooses not to remember sins so shouldn’t we stop remembering sins against our brethren? I hope this finds you well today. Be encouraged and know you can do this and you can be released today. God wants to bless you. Be Blessing to others and choose to forgive it will save you rest and give you peace.

Be Blessed!
