Hebrews 12:1-2

1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Police officers tell criminals to put down their weapons and step away from the car.. As Christians we need to put down the cares of this world and step away from the sins that keep us bound. Sins usually keep us bound because we want to go and pick it up. Sins also keep us bound because of what we say. Cares of this world are a weapon of the devil. If we speak what the devil says to us then we have faith in his words instead of the Word of God. Cares of this world are weights that the enemy uses to keep us flat on our faces. The sin vehicle is your flesh. The flesh likes to sin and if it didn’t then we all would not do it. So who is driving the car, well the devil of course, and you are in his vehicle. Why would the devil be driving? Because you invited him to come with you and you put him into the backseat. See if we let the devil into the backseat, one day he is going to want to drive. If he drives, you are most certainly going to crash or get pulled over. Sometimes we need to get pulled over to see what we have done or what we are doing or who we are carrying in our back seats? This is spiritually speaking! We need to have our spiritual back seats examined to make sure there is no more evil weapons. We need to be carrying our good spiritual weapons with us always, but not in the backseat. Our weapons need to be on us at all times!

Ephesians 6:11-18

11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

We need to run with faith, which produces patience. We don’t have to live with big heavy weights on us and we most certainly do not have to live in sin. We need to kick the devil out and plead the blood of Jesus over our lives, and the lives of others. We need to know that our race to the finish line is just around the corner and we will make it. We need to remember this life we live is not a 50 yard dash, rather it is a Marathon. Our finish line is heaven and Jesus has not only authored it but He has also finished it in you. He is the author and finisher of our faith. So put your faith on the line and step away from the things that hold you back. The biggest detriment to the Christian is his mouth. So continue to put your mouth in check and keep your eyes on the finish line. God has it all under control and it is God who will get you through it all. Don’t put your faith in man, rather put your faith in God! You will never be disappointed!

God Bless You All,

Running to Him as a Winner,

    I came upon your post from a Google Alert I set up on the phrase “plead the blood”. I do this every day for my family and believe God showed me something about this which I wrote about in my blog in 2006. You might be interested in reading it at: http://roadrevelations.org/?p=50. Be blessed!

    I like the analogy of putting down your cares and step away from sin.
