2 Chronicles 7:14 (King James Version)

14If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves #1, and pray #2, and seek my face #3, and turn from their wicked ways #4; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

The definition for seek is, to find something. The third part in this scripture is seek My face. God wants us to seek His face. Why does He want us to do this? Why can’t we just seek His hands? Let’s look at scripture in regards to seeking God’s face and knowing His ways versus seeking God’s hands.

Psalm 103:7
He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.

There is a lot of people who have come to church to see a miracle or get one for themselves. They come to listen to music as if it is a concert. Many have come but to play church. Unfortunately if we come to just put on church and play the game and give money then we are truly missing the point. If we are singing songs that only feel good and we are raising our hands but we are doing it because it feels good then we are missing the point. Many Christians today have become driven by their 5 physical senses. Church has become commercialized! Church has become seeker friendly! Don’t mistake what I just stated there about being seeker friendly with not being friendly at all. I think the church as a whole needs to be friendly. When I say seeker friendly, I am talking about playing certain songs, not talking about sin, only using scriptures that feel good and never talking about how to properly live. We don’t have to be mean but we must preach the truth. The church in America today figures if they can touch it, see it, smell it, hear it, or taste it then it must be real. The church in a lot situations has become the theatre. People come to watch the Pastor and to see if he or she will do something. The church unfortunately has not been going to church to seek God but to seek man and seek God’s hands.

I am not trying to sound mean or hurt anyone by the above comments. I am only stating what I see and what I hear. I have seen too many times, people going to church and just hoping to get something good and go home and never put any of it to use. God wants His Church to stop seeking His hands and start seeking His face.

For instance, if my children want something they know they can come to me and ask me directly but what they are seeking is my hands and not my face. I am happy to give them what they need and to bless them. If my children only ever came to me just to bless them, then I would have to ask them, why don’t they love me? You might think this is weird to say this, but look at it. How would you feel if the only time your children, husband, wife, or friend came to tell you that they love you was to get something from you? Many would agree that you would feel bad inside. You would feel used and eventually you would feel abused. I want my children and wife to come and just fellowship with me. It’s nice when they do and when they do this, it makes me want to bless them with things from my hands. God the Father wants to bless His children! He wants face time. God wants us to spend time with Him and communicate to Him.

The Church has taken God and treated Him like a sugar daddy. This is wrong and the church needs to stop it! We need to come to a place and begin to just seek God’s face. There is not a special code or a system in which to seek God’s face. It’s all about time. Maybe you got caught up this morning and you did not speak to God… So then do it at your lunch time. Spend time with God everyday! Choose to spend time with God like you would spend time doing other things. God loves you so much and all He is asking is for some face time. He wants you to seek His face! It’s not hard to seek God it’s a matter of obedience. Actually seeking God’s face is a matter of death or life. If you don’t seek His face eventually you will feel dead inside. Seek His face and you will feel alive!

1 Chronicles 16:8-11 (King James Version)

8Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.9Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.10Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.11Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.

The children of Israel knew the acts of God but Moses knew the ways of God. Why? Because Moses knew what he had to do. Moses needed to get himself to a place to seek God’s face. Let’s follow Moses’ and David’s example. Let’s seek the face of God and we will see our land healed and whole again. How many of you want to see America healed and whole again? How many of you want to see the your city changed? How many of you want the lost to come to Christ? How many of you want the gangs to stop and turn their lives to Christ, and the prostitution to stop, the drugs to go away, the human trafficking to stop, and the lives of others changed? How many of you want the recession to stop?

If you really want these things then it is time for the church to start seeking God’s face. It’s not just up to the church people but it is up to the Pastors as well. Pastors that read this… it’s time for you stand up and show the people of God how to seek His face. Church it’s time to put to practice and live the lifestyle of seeking God’s face.

Jesus is Lord!
