1 John 3:18

King James Version (KJV)

18My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

It’s easy to say I love you. It’s easy to walk around and tell anyone I love you. As a matter of fact, a lot of people do! People are so used to hearing I love you that it really does not even phase others to answer back I love you. Talk is cheap! Show me the love, that you have for me! Demonstrate Loves Action! That is something I want to say when I hear those three beautiful words. Love is not in words, or in your mouth. Love is in the deed and truth. Who better to know this than John the beloved.

John was so in love with the Lord. He wanted to be close to Him. He wanted to be near Him always. This is true of the woman named Mary, Martha’s sister. Mary sat at the feet of Jesus. She desired to be near Him. Mary wanted to show Jesus how much she loved Him by just being near. Martha was always busy. She was so busy, that she didn’t have enough time, just to sit and be near Jesus. This is the truth about many Christians today. Perhaps you are a Martha and not a Mary. It’s not enough to say I Love You. You have to show it. You need to draw near the Lord and He will draw near to you. (James 4:8)

Being in God’s presence is an action and not words. When you say I Love the Lord, you need to prove it with action. You need to prove it with deed. You need to prove it with truth. Lay yourself down and see what God wants you to do for Him. It might be that He wants you to mow someone’s lawn, go to a hospital and pray for someone. It might be that He wants you to just sit in your prayer closet and talk to Him. Maybe you don’t have a prayer closet and He wants you to create one. God wants you to give the action kind of Love. ACTION!

God is looking for action not cheap talk. Anyone can quote scripture and anyone can say I Love the Lord. God wants you to demonstrate love to others. People have told me let’s get together and have breakfast, lunch or dinner. I usually say great let’s do it. Weeks, months and years have gone by and still I have not been asked to have a breakfast, lunch or dinner. I have come to the understanding that when someone says this to me, it’s just cheap talk. It’s something that is said but not meant. More than likely people do this with the Lord. They say they are going to change and how much they love the Lord, but their actions speak differently. Change your action to what you speak. God loves by action. (John 3:16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

He gave Jesus to the World. He didn’t do it just for the Jews but for all of you! Love requires action! Make it happen today! Let love rule in you! Let Loves action come alive! Remember God loved, then He gave! Follow God’s action and you will not just be a hearer but a doer. James 1:22-25 22But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Be Blessed!

  1. Paul says:

Amen Pastor Phil, God is looking for action which speaks louder than words. A couple of months ago a brother from Fiju came to meet my elderly mother, within a few days of him meeting here, he had gone to the local superstore and bought a whole bunch of groceries for her…. Made me think, of your post here, God giving himself as the son and a whole bunch of groceries with it…..

    …Love in action.

My Brother you are valued and Loved.

    Paul
