James 3:2

King James Version (KJV)

2For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

To get offended you have to let strife in. Strife is defined as angry or bitter disagreement over fundamental issues; conflict. People who are easily offended are the ones who are either bitter, envious, angered, rejected or wounded. When God’s Word is preached these people will feel uneasy. Why? Because they are carrying this baggage. For you to choose not to be offended you need to get healed of resentment, rejection, bitterness, envy, strife…ETC.
Offense will cause you to miss the best things in life. Offense will keep you from loving others. Love conquers offense. Love is easy. If your offended easily then you probably have a hard time loving others. Examine your heart… Are you easily offended? If so, then you will also have a hard time forgiving others. Offense is a demonic stronghold to keep you from receiving correction. Everyone can use correction in life. Correction will help you to see where you can make some changes.
I used to be easily offended. I hated correction. When I was younger I hated when a Pastor or Evangelist would come to our church and preach because he or she would usually hit an area that I was struggling in. They would talk about something that I held deep in my flesh and soul. As soon as they would talk about it, I would be stirring in my seat and I would get angry. Why? Because I was trying to hide it and they were bringing it out. The stronghold was about to get broken and I was concerned someone would find out about an issue I had. I was easily offended because truth was coming out and I did not want the truth. I did not want to be corrected. Is that you today? Does this message make you squirm in your seat? If so, listen to what I am about to speak to you…
Correction is necessary. It will help you to make changes in your life. Offense will keep you from loving others the way that God wants you to love others. Offense is detrimental to living a life of love. How? Love always gives to benefit the One True Love (Jesus). If your always offended about something then how can you let Love rule in your life? The answer is, you can’t! You can either walk in offense or walk in love, but you can’t walk in both at the same time. It’s just like two kingdoms, you can’t live in both at the same time. Make a choice today, to ask God to forgive you for being easily offended. Make a choice today and everyday that you are not going to let offense take part in your life. Make the choice that you are going to love no matter what! If you will walk in Love, it will be hard for you to get offended.
