Deuteronomy 13:4

New Life Version (NLV)

4 Follow the Lord your God and fear Him. Keep His Laws, and listen to His voice. Work for Him, and hold on to Him.

In this last part of the verse we see work for Him and hold onto Him. Every born-again believer has a God job. We all have to fulfill kingdom business. One of the jobs we have is to make Jesus known. We have to get out there people! We have to talk about Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We need to be like News Anchormen. In the news room people are always reporting about superstars and tragic events. Listening to the news is usually not anything fun because ninety percent of what they write or talk about is problems. (Percentages is based on my estimation.) BUT, for you, you’re a child of the most High God. You’re supposed to be telling people about the good news. Jesus is alive and waiting for the world to come to Him. You’re supposed to be reporting on how God is still on the throne and that He has made a way of escape for you. Work is not always physical when it comes to working for God. Just being a voice for Him is work.

Church, it is time to work for God and not just for yourself. Working for the Father comes with rewards. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.He is not a slave driver but He requires consistency. Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. God needs us to work for Him because the harvest truly is bountiful. You don’t have to be called an Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist/Missionary, Pastor, or Teacher to make Jesus known or to lead someone to Salvation. All that you need is a willing heart and the want to be a worker for Him.

Settle this within yourself… If I want to hold on to Him then I will need know Him. If I want to make Him known then I will need to learn about Him. Your job is to KNOW the Lord. Your job is to cleave to Him. God is not going anywhere. He is waiting on you. This word cleave is powerful when you think about work. Cleave is defined as to cling, stick, stay close, keep close, stick to, stick with, follow closely, join to, overtake, and catch. You need to keep close to Him. Why? Because He will give you instructions and direction. Keeping close to Him will keep you from trouble. Following closely will allow you to see what you’re supposed to do. So get out there and start working. Make a daily habit to clock in and be ready to serve the Lord with everything. Be a worker of righteousness and not iniquity. Be available for the Father and He will bless you!
