Hebrews 1:3

Amplified Bible (AMP)

He is the sole expression of the glory of God [the Light-being, the [a]out-raying or radiance of the divine], and He is the perfect imprint and very image of [God’s] nature, upholding and maintaining and guiding and propelling the universe by His mighty word of power. When He had by offering Himself accomplished our cleansing of sins and riddance of guilt, He sat down at the right hand of the divine Majesty on high,

Jesus has purged our sins. He has taken us from unrighteousness to righteousness. The thing that is so awesome is that Jesus upholds, maintains, guides and propels the universe by His mighty word. God’s Word is the same yesterday, today and forever. When you receive the Lord Jesus as your Savior, all your sins are purged. Purged in the New Oxford American Dictionary means: rid (someone) of an unwanted feeling, memory, or condition. The purpose of purging is to get rid of something that holds you back. Purging helps you by propelling you forward. How? When you confess and repent of the unrighteous behavior, you purge out all sin. Sin holds you down or holds you back. Purging brings deliverance. Deliverance allows you to move forward without hindrances. Memories of your sins hold you back and this is called condemnation. Condemnation comes from satan and he will help you to recall your old sins which have already been forgiven. Say “NO, it’s under the blood of Jesus.” I will not look back because I am delivered. I am sanctified by the blood of the lamb. I am set free! God does not remember my sin anymore because His Word says so in Hebrews 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

God wants you to be free from sin, that is why He sent Jesus. Jesus was sent to save human-kind. Let me re-iterate something… You have to call on the name of Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead to be saved. You can’t be saved without confessing Jesus as Lord. Romans 10:9-10 King James Version (KJV) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Jesus is Lord!

Ephesians 2:22

New International Version 1984 (NIV1984)

22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.(A)

How do you see God’s place? Where does He dwell? God’s place is not full of evil, neither can it ever be. God’s habitation is found in you. Shouldn’t you keep yourself clean? Shouldn’t you make sure that all is well in you?

I am asking these questions for purpose. When I was a teenager I did not like the way I looked. I felt like I was not good enough. This came about because I did not understand my identity. I did not know that God’s house was in me. I know someone who is reading this blog and is probably thinking how can this guy say this… I can say this because of the scripture found in 1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? As a Christian I was made fun of in school. I decided to hide what I believed. I remember in freshman baseball most of the guys called me preacher and that embarrassed me. I thought that was a bad name to be called. I didn’t realize how much that was a complement to God. When I was a teenager I was always looking for approval from my peers and anyone who was popular. I was looking for approval from my parents and family members. I did not get a lot of approval because of my actions. I did get attention but it was not the right attention. I was rebelling yet I had God who was living in me.

After a time I found myself looking to drugs and alcohol. I found myself drinking more than most people. I was drinking and doing drugs to escape from what I knew. I was drinking and doing drugs to escape failure yet I was failing in what I was doing. Where was God in all of this? Didn’t He care? Doesn’t He see what I am going through? This was my daily prayers. This is what I would say after a long day at school. The people I longed to hang out with could care less and the people who cared about me I cared less about them. Talk about being ironic. My heart was torn and my life seemed dim. After a long time of running from God, I found myself turning to Him.

See I did not want old-time religion or some fake Christianity filled with legalism. I was looking for a real relationship. I needed God to be real and I needed to talk to Him like a Father and friend. I don’t remember many of my Pastor’s sermons because I was too interested in myself. I am sure that he preached on 1 Corinthians 6:19 but as a teenager I was not that interested. What I needed to know is that God lives in me. I was reminded of what my Sunday School teacher taught me. When you ask Jesus into your life He makes His home in you. What a revelation!

Today as a Senior Pastor of one of the best churches in the world (Love Walk Christian Center).(Bias opinion of course) I am reminded of the habitation of God. I am reminded of the many people who need Jesus and who are lacking a relationship with God. I can see today that most people are driven by what they see on the TV, the internet, books, or magazines. Forget that stuff, it will get you no where quick. God who loves you dwells in you. You don’t have to look like someone or act like someone to be someone. You are the temple of God where the Holy Spirit dwells. You’re special and you’re blessed! You don’t need man’s approval for anything! Seek God first and He will make your way pleasant. As you think about keeping your home clean and spotless, think about keeping your home where God dwells cleaned and spotless.

John 4:7-10

King James Version (KJV)

There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.

(For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)

Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

As a Christian I always want people to recognize Jesus in me. Does your actions warrant this? Do your words teach like Jesus? Do people question why you are different? If people cannot recognize Jesus in you… Could it be that you have not spent time with Him? Does the Word of God come out of your mouth or does the words of the world come out of your mouth?

As a believer we have the blessing of sharing Jesus to a dying world. We have the blessing of giving people the deep water (Word of God) of Salvation, Healing, Deliverance, Restoration, Encouragement… ETC. Like Jesus said to the Samaritan woman “If thou knewest the gift of God.” You’re a gift of God.

Let me share something special with you. I was 11 years old when I met this woman. She loved on me always. I remember when I went to the altar and the power of God hit me. This woman whose name is Suzy, came down and began to minister to me. I remember her standing over me and praying in tongues. I remember her bending down, putting her head near mine, put her arm around me and she held me close and told me that God loved me. I thought how could God love me. I messed up all the time! I was angry all the time! I felt like a mistake! But, she told me that God still loved me and that He was going to help me. She said God called me into ministry, I knew that, but I was scared. She said don’t worry God will show me. That day I found a gift. This woman was a gift to me. She spoke to me like God speaks to me. She was a gift to me. I could see Jesus in her. When I was around her I recognized the Lord.

For my life I want people to recognize Jesus in me, hear Jesus in me and know that I have spent time with the Heavenly Father. I don’t want people to recognize me. I want people to recognize Jesus. Be a gift to someone! Give them that tall glass of Heavenly Water from the Word of God. Take no glory for yourself and give God all the glory.

Mark 7:8-9, 13

King James Version (KJV)

For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

Think about this for a moment. What traditions are you holding on to? What do you perform in your local church and in your home? Are you doing the same things that others have done? Do you have traditionalism racing through your church? I ask these questions because Jesus spoke these words. I ask these questions because the church needs to evaluate itself and see if they’re doing things because of tradition.

Jesus spoke on this because He was dealing with people who made His Father’s Word to have no effect. There was no demonstration of power. This is like people who preach and nothing happens. It’s just words! Christians who call themselves Christians, but still go out and make a mockery of being a Christian.

People were more in tune with doing things that were natural. The traditions were followed more to the letter rather than the commandments God gave them. People follow people! The question is… What do you get when you follow a person of tradition? You get tradition, natural things and loss of supernatural things. What happens when you follow Jesus? Power, might, strength, miracles, wonders, signs and supernatural things.

If your tired of the same old traditional things, then it’s time to start operating according to the Word of God. It’s not hard, it’s a choice and command from God’s Word. Why? Because God’s Word is powerful and mighty. If you operate only on man’s word you will miss supernatural things. Man is natural and if the Word of God is not first you will get a natural word. If man is preaching and teaching the Word of God according to the Spirit of God then you will get supernatural results.

Jesus does not want traditions of man preached! Jesus wants His Father’s Word preached. Mans tradition is “Genetically Altered Religion.” This is a quote from Kenneth Copeland.

When you are performing more of mans word then God’s Word, you have a tradition. Mans tradition opposes God’s Word. Mans word is usually what causes occults to come about. Take a moment and think about how you can make some changes. Am I a Christian of tradition? Or do I have a relationship with God? Relationship means intimacy. Intimacy will occur with daily bible reading and prayer. Spending time with the Father will help you to stay fresh and keep you from tradition.

Romans 13:14

King James Version (KJV)

14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Many times when we hear “lust of the flesh” or “lust” we always think about it pertaining to sex or sexual immorality. Many Pastors have spoken this from the pulpit, but I would like to tell you that it is much more than that. Let’s look at lusting after fear for example…

Did you know you could lust after all kinds of things other than possessions and sex? How about this… There are people who lust after worry, anxiety, fear, failure and death. As I began to run this morning I was talking to the Lord and He spoke this word to me. People that are in constant fear, lust after it. They think and meditate on it daily. I have given them scripture to take the thought captive, but their thinking tends to go to a lustful fear thought. I began to ask God what He meant by this. I have never thought about lusting after fear or anything else like this. Here was His response… A person who lusts after a person sexually thinks about it constantly. They entertain it until it is fulfilled or until they fulfill themselves. Fearful lust comes in the same thought patterns as sexual lust or possession lust. Worry and fear are synonymous!

A person who lusts after fear constantly replays it over and over again in his mind. They begin to speak it out loud and even speak it to others. They roll play what could happen. These people constantly imprison themselves. The thought of fear for some invigorates them. They can’t admit it but it is truthful for a person who fears. I used to have a great amount of fear. I used to fear flying and death. If I knew I was going to fly 6 months from a certain date I would begin the process. I would start to meditate on death and fearful thoughts. I was lusting after it. When I would get on the plane I would have high anxiety and feel terrible. By the time the plane had finished landing I was exhausted physically, emotionally and mentally. All of these signs point to a lustful behavior. Just like sexual lust, fearful lust makes you tired after the deed is done.

For thought purposes… If you don’t want to be lustful in any way, then you need to take every thought that exalts itself above the knowledge of God captive. If you want to be out of fear then you need to take that thought captive. Fear starts with the thought and then the emotions will take place after. Get your soul in line with God’s Word. The soul is the mind, will and emotions. Keeping yourself in check will keep you from sinning and consistently struggling. Keep your mind renewed on God’s Word. Take every evil thought captive. Resist the devil and he will flee. Meditate on God’s Word day and night and keep it before your eyes. Sing spiritual songs and hymns and pray without ceasing. Doing so will keep you from being lustful.

Romans 12:2

J.B. Phillips New Testament (PHILLIPS)

Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into its own mould, but let God re-mould your minds from within, so that you may prove in practice that the plan of God for you is good, meets all his demands and moves towards the goal of true maturity.

Last night I watched a scientific documentary on people who go with the flow. They were given signs to follow and everyone followed them. People were touching their nose in front of everyone and others began doing the same thing. People were hearing a bell-like noise and they began to stand up and the people who did not know what was going on followed suit.

It was amazing to watch this documentary. I laughed a lot but as I sat and watched I heard the Holy Spirit speak this to me… The Word of God says to not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our mind. People are following others even when they don’t know what they’re doing. People will do things that others are doing so that they’ll not be left out. Everyone wants to be part of the in-crowd! If the Believer does not quickly renew his mind then he will fit into the worldly ways and manners. He will be going with the flow!

I liked the Phillips version because it uses the word mold. Many times we do what others do because we don’t want to be left out of the crowd. We want to fit into the same mold. However as a Christian we are not supposed to fit into the world’s mold. We are supposed to be the ones with the new witty ideas and new ways. The believers mind is to be renewed and changed daily. If you would like to see if you’re following a molded idea, then change your routine in the morning. I am sure if you change that routine you will find yourself slightly irritable because your mind is used to the daily morning routine.

Conform is defined as comply with rules, standards, or laws. Mold is defined as form (an object with a particular shape) out of easily manipulated material. Are you easily manipulated? Do you just go with the flow? Break the mold is defined as put an end to a restrictive pattern of events or behavior by doing things in a markedly different way. This last definition is powerful to think that God did not create the human being to be the same as everyone else. He created us to be creative just like Him. If it were not so then why should we have the mind of Christ. Jesus was different from all and He was flesh and blood like you and I. People had a problem with Him because He did not go with the flow. Jesus was so different that many could not comprehend. Many questioned His authority and power. If we are to model Jesus in this world then why don’t we see more healing and miracles? Perhaps our minds are not renewed and most likely we are going with the flow…

I dare you to be different! I dare you to break the mold and to make a change! It needs to be biblical to be different from the world.

2 Corinthians 5:17

King James Version (KJV)

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Are you in Christ Jesus? Are you a new creature? If you are, then stop trying to go back to your old life or lifestyle. As Christians we need to be reminded of who we are now and not who we were before Jesus. We can testify about what our old life was like before Christ but, we should not desire to go back to that old life. I get reminded about my past often! Sometimes the enemy will say “do you remember when you messed up?” Do you remember how this made you feel good? Do you remember how you failed? Do you remember this old sin and that old sin? My response is this… Devil, I don’t recall those old days because they are in my past. My past is forgiven me and I stand as the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. My response to the devil is also this… Devil, remember how you lost when Jesus went to the cross for me! Devil,  remember how the book of Revelation tells me that I have the Victory! Devil, remember that your under my feet? Devil, remember how I win by the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of my testimony! I win and I remind the devil of who I am. I stand in Victory, not in my past.

Let the past be the past. Choose not to dwell there or roll play there. Yes, I have a past and most people do. However, I don’t let my past dictate my present or future. I am moving forward! God has made me a new creature and all the old deeds of my flesh are passed away. I stand forgiven always and I stand as the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

If you’re reading this and you’re not saved then this is the perfect opportunity for you to receive Jesus. This is a great opportunity to let go of your past and start moving forward. Jesus loves you and He wants you to be part of the family. Jesus is real and He died for you. So, if you would like to receive Jesus then repeat this prayer out loud…

Jesus, I want you to be the Lord of my life. I believe you died on the cross for me and my sins. I believe that you rose from the grave, ascended to Heaven and that you said you were coming back for me. I denounce my old life and I now receive the life of Christ. I receive the new life as a new creature. Amen!

If you have received Jesus as your Lord and Savior and you have been running from the Lord then it’s time for you to get back. Choose to repeat this… Father forgive me for running from you. Renew my life! I receive Your forgiveness and I will choose to stay on task. Amen!

If you have made one of these public confessions then respond by writing on this blog. We would love to hear from you. We love you all and we are expecting great things for you. We don’t want you to stay in the past but to move forward. God is on your side and Jesus is Lord!
