1 Timothy 6:12

King James Version (KJV)

12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Many people talk about fighting the good fight of faith. Fighting the good fight of faith is not just fighting against satan and his cohorts. Fighting the good fight of faith is speaking faith words that bring forth reproduction. Your words bring forth reproduction. What you speak brings forth blessings or curses.

Jesus spoke and many were healed, delivered…ETC. Do words carry forth power? Yes! Scripture talks about your words and what they bring forth. The scripture in Matthew 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. Your words are very powerful. You can bless someone and curse someone. Your words can make a situation good or bad. You need to keep your words clean.

As a believer you need to lay hold of eternal life. This means you need to understand and comprehend your life as being forever in God’s presence. Why do you need to do this? So you can continually keep your words clean. Here is an example… People arrive at a crash and see cars all messed up. These people are not going to speak good things but they will speak about the crash and even potentially bad things. More than likely the people will start talking about death. Maybe no one died but people will talk as if someone died. Why? Because they are moved by the situation. The point is this, if you lay hold of eternal life you won’t speak death. Why? Because your life is moved by eternal life.

You have negative people and positive people in a room. Whoever you hang out with is who you will talk like. The same thing applies with who you’re listening too. If your life is filled up with satanic things and you’re constantly listening to condemnation, who will you talk like? You will talk like the devil. If your life is filled up with godly things and you’re constantly listening to life, love, peace, joy and faith, who will you talk like? God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Your words are the container of your heart. Whatever you place in your container clean or dirty will spill out. Be cautious of what you bring into your life. They will show where you have been. Your profession of life will be seen and heard by many witnesses. Keep your words clean!

Be Blessed!

Psalm 84:5

King James Version (KJV)

Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.

You’re not alone in this life. God the Father is with you always. You’re strength is in the Lord. Through life’s pains and struggles, look to the One who can relieve you of it all. God loves you so much. Sometimes you just need to be reminded that God is always with you. Put your life into His hands and He will show you how much He loves you. Don’t rely on yourself but look to God who is the Author and Finisher of your faith. He will not leave you or forsake you. God is with you always.

If you feel alone, call out to God and He will answer. You can’t rely on your friends and family to keep you strong. You need to look to the One who is always strong. God is your source. Man can help, but man cannot get you through the tough things in life. God can get you through tough and rough times. God always responds.

The Psalmist writes that a blessed man is the one whose strength is in the Lord. He is also talking about the man who trusts in the Lord. The man who relies on the Lord. The man who knows the Lord. If your strength is in man you will fail. Why? Because man has limited strength in himself. If you rely on God you will receive the unlimited strength. The unlimited reliability. The unlimited love. The unlimited power. The unlimited fatherhood. God is waiting on you to rely on Him. Remember… You’re not alone.

1 Thessalonians 5:24

King James Version (KJV)

24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

God is so very faithful. Your calling was not made up by you. Your calling did not come because of what someone prophesied. Your calling was ordained before you were conceived. Your calling was placed upon you the moment you were conceived in your mother’s womb. Your calling is a heavenly calling from God the Father. The prophecy you received about your calling is God waking you up to recognize what your calling is. Everyone has a calling. But not everyone knows their calling or even seeks God about their calling. Your calling has blueprints, directions and instructions of what you’re supposed to do. Your calling has a map of people you’re supposed to influence. The Bible says your calling is without repentance. Romans 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. Don’t waste time talking about your past. Talk about your calling! Walking in the call on your life will help you bless others. It will help you move forward.

God is faithful who called you. Because God is faithful, He will help you to walk out this calling on your life. Don’t wait for God to make some moves. Start out on your journey and God will instruct and guide you. Why? Because He desires to bless others. How does God do that? He does that through you. Make yourself available to your Pastors. Start participating in church and watch what God will do. Ask to help somewhere in your church. Helping is the grounds for training. Helping in your church will open opportunities to bless others.
The call on someone’s life is not about just receiving the blessings. It’s about meeting the needs of hurting humanity. The world is in need of a Savior, Jesus. Jesus is the Savior for the world. There will never be another Savior. His calling was to teach, preach, die, rise, release, defeat sin, ascend and come back again for His people. What an awesome calling! He fulfilled it and God helped Him the whole way. When you decide to receive your calling you will begin to fulfill what God ordained before you were born. When you surrender to the call of God on your life the blessings will start to overflow and overtake you. You will not have to look for the blessings because you will be living in them. Remember… It is not you who has orchestrated the call. God who is faithful orchestrated it all and He will also do it. Make yourself available!
P.S. Remember this is Pastors appreciation month. Encourage your Pastors this month. After all they encourage you month after month.

Colossians 3:1-2

The Message (MSG)

1-2 So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.

Temporary things will give you temporary happiness which is a temporal emotion. Temporary in the New Oxford American Dictionary means lasting for only a limited period of time; not permanent. Temporal things tend to cause many believers to be like a roller coaster. People are up then down. They go real fast but stop abruptly. If you set your mind and life on temporal things then you will always be making changes to get the same result. With your mind and your will in pursuit of eternal things you will always have a guarantee. People today are looking for a guarantee on temporal things. The way that I define temporal things is… Subject to change!

For example… You have a candy bar. It satisfies you for just a moment. After 30 minutes or so you find yourself wanting something more or even another candy bar. Why? Because it is temporal. It is meant to give immediate satisfaction but it always has you coming back for more.

Eternal in the New Oxford American Dictionary means lasting or existing forever; without end or beginning. What a powerful definition. This blesses me because the Bible says in John 3:16 that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes on him shall not perish but have eternal life. Eternal means forever. This is like eating a candy bar one time and never having to eat another because the craving has been permanently satisfied. Being a human we often still feel unsatisfied. Why? Because of temporal cravings for worldly things. We want the hottest and greatest things that come out. We try to keep up with the Jones’ only to crave more. We are temporarily satisfied.

Put your mind on eternal things. Pursue eternal things that Jesus presides over. Looking at the things in front of you will always have you in the here and now.

I will close with this in mind. Too often people get moved by what they hear and what they see. These things on the Earth are temporal and not eternal. If you pick your head up and look to God the Father, He will set you on eternal things and the things of this Earth will not move you. Be moved by the presence of God and not the temporal things.

Philippians 3:13

King James Version (KJV)

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

Quite often I hear people talking about how they could have done things better. I often hear about yesterday’s event rather than what God is doing for someone now. Many people dwell in the past instead of the future. Many people talk about the old things and never get out of the past. It seems to me that people like to dwell in the past. We all have past memories and we can talk about the good times. Most people stay in the past though. They don’t even know how to talk about the here and now. Most people don’t know how to talk about good things. Most people talk about bad things.

Paul the Apostle talks about forgetting the things which are behind and reaching forth to the things ahead. His mind was on the prize of Jesus Christ. His mind was looking forward to the blessedness of being with the Lord.

The reason why people do not look ahead is… The have nothing to look forward to. They have nothing to press forward to. They don’t have a prize in life.

Here is an example… If your job says you will get a raise every three months, you will have a goal of looking ahead for that prize. Why? Because you will begin to aim at something. If you played sports like I did… I aimed at titles, championships, medals, and trophies. I aimed for the prize ahead. I would think about the glory of being number one. I would daydream about being the best. I would even dream of being the best. Why? Because I was reaching ahead.

While I play sports for recreation today I still find myself aiming for a prize and I find myself pressing ahead. Today as I Pastor I have a vision from God for our church. I am not striving but I am pressing ahead. I am looking forward to seeing the vision fulfilled. Everyday I have to remind myself of what I have. I have to remind myself of why I have been moved to Houston, Texas. Everyday I am excited about what my day will hold for me. I choose what kind of day I am going to have. I make a choice and stand behind it. So what if something comes up! I can still have a good day. Why? Because I am pressing ahead. If you’re not moving forward, then you have backed up and will eventually crash. Why? Because you have lost your direction.

If you’re lacking vision for your life, let me introduce you to Jesus. Jesus is the Son of God. He was beaten and mocked for you. He received the cross of crucifixion for you. He died and rose again after three days. He showed himself to His disciples and many others. He did all of this because God the Father has a master plan for you to have a good life, for you to make eternity. Now it cost God everything so that you can have everything. He paid the price of sin with His Son. So if you would like to press ahead and get out of your past and get to a place of a vision for your life, repeat this prayer out loud and receive Jesus today.

Prayer: Jesus I ask you to come into my life and forgive me of all my sins. I denounce satan and all his works. I confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior. According to Romans 10:9-10 I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus died and rose again. Today I am a saved. Today I am counted as one of God’s children. I have entered into a new family and I am not ashamed. Thank you Lord for saving me. I pray this confession in Jesus’ name. Amen!

I know that my life changed when I decided to ask Jesus to be the Lord of my life. I still had problems, but I knew that I had a new life that would get better. I was frustrated of not knowing what to do in life. I was honestly mad and I needed direction. Everything changed the moment I confessed Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I just knew my life would get better because I was going to be used to bless the Lord. I had something that I could press ahead too. From this day forward you don’t have to look back at anything. You look forward and don’t let your past dictate your present and future.

Ephesians 4:7

Amplified Bible (AMP)

Yet grace (God’s unmerited favor) was given to each of us individually [not indiscriminately, but in different ways] in proportion to the measure of Christ’s [rich and bounteous] gift.

Jesus’ grace was unmeasurable. Jesus had power without measure. This grace given to you and I is without measure. Grace is of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues. (BLB) Blue Letter Bible.

Because this grace is unmeasurable it means that it is extended to anyone. It is not restrictive. God’s grace for you came from His love for you. If God did not love you it would be impossible to give you unmeasurable grace. If God didn’t love you there would be no way for you to be saved. God loves you so much that He sent Jesus as the saving grace. The measure of Christ’s gift was His death on the cross. It was the greatest sacrifice. It was unmeasurable because it was meant for all humans. However we can’t use this grace to sin willfully. Grace is the gift of bountifulness, acceptance, unmerited favor, liberality, blessings bestowed upon. You can’t earn grace. Grace can not be worked for. Grace is an extension of God’s love for you and for the world. That is why accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior is your choice. Grace is given and it causes favor upon your life. Favor is opening of doors that man can not open and man can not close.

Jesus had favor everywhere He went. I literally started to tell everyone that I have favor. I announce the favor of God on my life. I proclaim God’s grace is sufficient for me and my family. I rejoice over the fact that I am blessed and highly favored. What this does for me is, it reminds me of who I am and whose I am. I am God’s child. I am a son of God. You’re a child of God! That means you are a carrier of grace, the unmerited favor. Because of this grace in your life you are also to extend this to everyone else. Regardless of what someone has said to you or done to you, you must extend grace. After all God extends grace to you when you act crazy or stupid. I am not calling anyone stupid but you can act that way.

Grace is given through the love of God. That is how grace operates. So should you extend grace to someone? Be sweet like Jesus and extend grace. Grace is what will win someone to the Lord. Favor is a by-product of grace. It opens doors, it brings blessings, it sets people free and it loves unconditionally. The grace factor is God’s heart for dying man.

Ephesians 2:22

New International Version 1984 (NIV1984)

22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.(A)

How do you see God’s place? Where does He dwell? God’s place is not full of evil, neither can it ever be. God’s habitation is found in you. Shouldn’t you keep yourself clean? Shouldn’t you make sure that all is well in you?

I am asking these questions for purpose. When I was a teenager I did not like the way I looked. I felt like I was not good enough. This came about because I did not understand my identity. I did not know that God’s house was in me. I know someone who is reading this blog and is probably thinking how can this guy say this… I can say this because of the scripture found in 1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? As a Christian I was made fun of in school. I decided to hide what I believed. I remember in freshman baseball most of the guys called me preacher and that embarrassed me. I thought that was a bad name to be called. I didn’t realize how much that was a complement to God. When I was a teenager I was always looking for approval from my peers and anyone who was popular. I was looking for approval from my parents and family members. I did not get a lot of approval because of my actions. I did get attention but it was not the right attention. I was rebelling yet I had God who was living in me.

After a time I found myself looking to drugs and alcohol. I found myself drinking more than most people. I was drinking and doing drugs to escape from what I knew. I was drinking and doing drugs to escape failure yet I was failing in what I was doing. Where was God in all of this? Didn’t He care? Doesn’t He see what I am going through? This was my daily prayers. This is what I would say after a long day at school. The people I longed to hang out with could care less and the people who cared about me I cared less about them. Talk about being ironic. My heart was torn and my life seemed dim. After a long time of running from God, I found myself turning to Him.

See I did not want old-time religion or some fake Christianity filled with legalism. I was looking for a real relationship. I needed God to be real and I needed to talk to Him like a Father and friend. I don’t remember many of my Pastor’s sermons because I was too interested in myself. I am sure that he preached on 1 Corinthians 6:19 but as a teenager I was not that interested. What I needed to know is that God lives in me. I was reminded of what my Sunday School teacher taught me. When you ask Jesus into your life He makes His home in you. What a revelation!

Today as a Senior Pastor of one of the best churches in the world (Love Walk Christian Center).(Bias opinion of course) I am reminded of the habitation of God. I am reminded of the many people who need Jesus and who are lacking a relationship with God. I can see today that most people are driven by what they see on the TV, the internet, books, or magazines. Forget that stuff, it will get you no where quick. God who loves you dwells in you. You don’t have to look like someone or act like someone to be someone. You are the temple of God where the Holy Spirit dwells. You’re special and you’re blessed! You don’t need man’s approval for anything! Seek God first and He will make your way pleasant. As you think about keeping your home clean and spotless, think about keeping your home where God dwells cleaned and spotless.
