Proverbs 15:10

King James Version (KJV)

Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.

Correction is good. Many times Christians run from the very thing that helps them to move forward. Without correction, it is impossible for anyone to make forward progress. Correction enlightens our eyes to see more clearly and our ears to hear without disturbance. Correction helps to keep a person on track. For some reason people talk like they want correction but when it comes they don’t like to hear it. Why? Because it makes them realize the error of their way. The person who hates correction will die. Why? Because they are too stubborn to be put into the right position.

This is how I look at people who don’t want correction… They are like a person who has a vertebrae out of place in their back. When the vertebrae gets out of place it will leave the person in pain and crooked. The vertebrae that is out of place will keep a person from doing the right thing. Like what? Like praying, praising & worshiping God. This person needs an adjustment or they will continue in pain. There are many people who are crooked and absolutely refuse to be made straight. Why? Because when correction comes it’s grievous to this person who has strayed from the way. Why? Because they believe they are doing right and refuse to look inward and consult with the Holy Spirit. Other times they know they are wrong but they are not willing to make a change.

If you think living a life without the Lord is pleasing, then you are gravely mistaken. I have heard this statement from people… ” When I was NOT living for the Lord I did not have all these problems.” My response is… ” Oh yes you did. You just did not recognize the problems because the enemy had you fooled. Your mind was crooked and you were disjointed.” The problem is these kind of people hate correction and when they hear it they pull themselves away. They believe they are right because they are used to doing wrong for so long.

People believe that God corrects with pain and suffering and I am here to say that statement is so far from the truth. It is an abomination to believe God corrects with affliction. God does not make you sick or break your leg to correct a person. Jesus prayed to God that He would send a Comforter. (John 14:16-18) And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

This Comforter (Holy Spirit) will bring conviction when you step out of the blessing of God. He will bring correction through the Word of God. The Holy Spirit only speaks what the Father says. He does not speak of Himself. (John 16:7-16) Condemnation is the one that hurts and delivers pain and suffering. Usually condemnation comes from the enemy but it also comes from yourself. We often beat ourselves up because we mess up. So stop it!

If correction becomes grievous to you, then you will not be in the will of the Lord.  Proverbs 15:14 King James Version (KJV) The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.

Get understanding and receive correction with joy because that means you are willing to move forward and make progress.

Be Blessed!

Hebrews 11:1

King James Version (KJV)

11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Faith is a substance. What is a substance? Substance is assurance and it is also confidence. In another translation it is a reality. In another translation it is assurance, confirmation or even a title-deed. These words are strong and carry insurmountable weight.

Faith can not be overcome unless the believer decides to give in to the pressures of this world and it’s facets. Faith is now! This means it occurs the moment you release and believe. Faith does not look for others to agree. Faith steps out by itself. Faith is a decision maker and will stand firm. Faith is based on the confidence of knowing. Knowing is having intimacy. Proper intimacy occurs through time spent.

Who you spend time with the most is who you will have a confidence in. When a husband and wife spend much time together they develop confidence in the other person. They learn about one another. They find out about their likes and dislikes. They learn about each others downfalls and victories. They learn and become more acquainted with their being. Knowing is about examining, asking questions and seeking answers. How does this all apply to faith?

It takes faith to get saved. You can not be saved without faith. My wife, children, friends or Pastor can not get me saved. It takes my faith and my confession to get saved. Same thing applies when it comes to believing for something. It takes my faith in the Lord that He will move mightily. My faith in the Lord is substance and it will increase the more time I spend with Him. The more intimate time that I spend with the Lord the better I will be acquainted with His being. People might argue that you can’t know God but I will have to say that you’re wrong. Why? Because He is a loving Father and He shows Himself mighty always. Just like a father will spend time with his children so does the Heavenly Father do with His children. He is always ready for conversation and He desires to spend time with you. Prayer is a time of intimacy not a chore. It’s not a chore to spend time with my wife. It is a blessing. The more time I make myself available to her the more acquainted she will be with me and I with her.

Faith that moves mountains is the same faith that helped you get saved. Your faith to move mountains is the substance, assurance, confidence, confirmation and title-deed. If you release your faith for something you can guarantee yourself the greatest results possible. It’s the lack of faith where people falter. If you don’t read your Bible your faith will fail because it’s lacking development and you always believe that God does not answer prayer. Romans 10:17 Amplified Bible (AMP) 17 So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself). Faith comes by hearing and hearing what Jesus preached.

Your worldly faith can be built up by people of the world. When we hear a story about something that is going on we tend to listen and have faith in what someone says. You can have perverted faith, which is fear. Fear is perverted faith! People fear things that have been told to them and they themselves have never experienced it for themselves, but they know they are afraid because of what someone has said. The devil spreads perverted faith and he develops it with words. It is the polar opposite of what God has done with His Word. The devil has words and God has the Word. What you hear the most will develop faith into either one. One will be faith and faithful. The other will be fear and fearful. One will be God’s Word and the other will be the devils words.

Get your faith built up on the Word of God because the devil is trying to build your faith in his fear based words. Stay in your Word(Bible) daily and confess God’s Word and you will see an increase.

Be Blessed!

1 Timothy 6:12

King James Version (KJV)

12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Many people talk about fighting the good fight of faith. Fighting the good fight of faith is not just fighting against satan and his cohorts. Fighting the good fight of faith is speaking faith words that bring forth reproduction. Your words bring forth reproduction. What you speak brings forth blessings or curses.

Jesus spoke and many were healed, delivered…ETC. Do words carry forth power? Yes! Scripture talks about your words and what they bring forth. The scripture in Matthew 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. Your words are very powerful. You can bless someone and curse someone. Your words can make a situation good or bad. You need to keep your words clean.

As a believer you need to lay hold of eternal life. This means you need to understand and comprehend your life as being forever in God’s presence. Why do you need to do this? So you can continually keep your words clean. Here is an example… People arrive at a crash and see cars all messed up. These people are not going to speak good things but they will speak about the crash and even potentially bad things. More than likely the people will start talking about death. Maybe no one died but people will talk as if someone died. Why? Because they are moved by the situation. The point is this, if you lay hold of eternal life you won’t speak death. Why? Because your life is moved by eternal life.

You have negative people and positive people in a room. Whoever you hang out with is who you will talk like. The same thing applies with who you’re listening too. If your life is filled up with satanic things and you’re constantly listening to condemnation, who will you talk like? You will talk like the devil. If your life is filled up with godly things and you’re constantly listening to life, love, peace, joy and faith, who will you talk like? God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Your words are the container of your heart. Whatever you place in your container clean or dirty will spill out. Be cautious of what you bring into your life. They will show where you have been. Your profession of life will be seen and heard by many witnesses. Keep your words clean!

1 Timothy 1:5

Amplified Bible (AMP)

Whereas the object and purpose of our instruction and charge is love, which springs from a pure heart and a good (clear) conscience and sincere (unfeigned) faith.

Real love and real purpose is what most people in the world are looking for. People want genuineness. The word love is said often without purpose and sincerity. Just because you’re Christian does not mean that you are full of love. I have heard many people say I love you, yet I don’t see it in their actions. Why? Because the love they speak is not of purpose.

Purpose in the Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary is defined as that which a person sets before himself as an object to be reached or accomplished; the end or aim to which the view is directed in any plan, measure or exertion. Intention.

Let me define purpose this way. Purpose is something that a person sets out to fulfill. It is intentional and it comes at great price.

Love is not just something we say but something that we intentionally do. Love is not to be thrown around like words. Love is an action not a feeling. Feelings are temporal and love is not. Real love has a real purpose. Real love is the demonstration of Jesus on the cross for your sins and for your life in eternity. Real love is when you can forgive regardless of what someone has done to you. Real love is not talked about, it’s given with no strings attached. Real love is not about you but about the one who is love. 1 John 4:8 Amplified Bible (AMP) He who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. God loves you and His love came with real purpose. God’s purpose was and is that all humans would be saved. His love for humankind is so great that He willingly gave us Jesus His only Son. That is real love!

Real love comes at a great price. Real love says, “If you hurt me I will still love you.” Real love says, “I forgive and I choose to forget your sin against me.” How is that possible? Scripture says in Hebrews 8:12 (KJV) For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. God, being merciful, is forgiving and not remembering your sin. This is not just mercy but real love with real purpose. God’s purpose for you is to love like Him.

For you to love like God, you will need to know God. How do you do that? Talk to God like you would talk to your friends. Give God your time. For you to love sincerely you will need to purpose in your heart to truly forgive.

Be Blessed!

Psalm 84:5

King James Version (KJV)

Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.

You’re not alone in this life. God the Father is with you always. You’re strength is in the Lord. Through life’s pains and struggles, look to the One who can relieve you of it all. God loves you so much. Sometimes you just need to be reminded that God is always with you. Put your life into His hands and He will show you how much He loves you. Don’t rely on yourself but look to God who is the Author and Finisher of your faith. He will not leave you or forsake you. God is with you always.

If you feel alone, call out to God and He will answer. You can’t rely on your friends and family to keep you strong. You need to look to the One who is always strong. God is your source. Man can help, but man cannot get you through the tough things in life. God can get you through tough and rough times. God always responds.

The Psalmist writes that a blessed man is the one whose strength is in the Lord. He is also talking about the man who trusts in the Lord. The man who relies on the Lord. The man who knows the Lord. If your strength is in man you will fail. Why? Because man has limited strength in himself. If you rely on God you will receive the unlimited strength. The unlimited reliability. The unlimited love. The unlimited power. The unlimited fatherhood. God is waiting on you to rely on Him. Remember… You’re not alone.

1 Thessalonians 5:24

King James Version (KJV)

24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

God is so very faithful. Your calling was not made up by you. Your calling did not come because of what someone prophesied. Your calling was ordained before you were conceived. Your calling was placed upon you the moment you were conceived in your mother’s womb. Your calling is a heavenly calling from God the Father. The prophecy you received about your calling is God waking you up to recognize what your calling is. Everyone has a calling. But not everyone knows their calling or even seeks God about their calling. Your calling has blueprints, directions and instructions of what you’re supposed to do. Your calling has a map of people you’re supposed to influence. The Bible says your calling is without repentance. Romans 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. Don’t waste time talking about your past. Talk about your calling! Walking in the call on your life will help you bless others. It will help you move forward.

God is faithful who called you. Because God is faithful, He will help you to walk out this calling on your life. Don’t wait for God to make some moves. Start out on your journey and God will instruct and guide you. Why? Because He desires to bless others. How does God do that? He does that through you. Make yourself available to your Pastors. Start participating in church and watch what God will do. Ask to help somewhere in your church. Helping is the grounds for training. Helping in your church will open opportunities to bless others.
The call on someone’s life is not about just receiving the blessings. It’s about meeting the needs of hurting humanity. The world is in need of a Savior, Jesus. Jesus is the Savior for the world. There will never be another Savior. His calling was to teach, preach, die, rise, release, defeat sin, ascend and come back again for His people. What an awesome calling! He fulfilled it and God helped Him the whole way. When you decide to receive your calling you will begin to fulfill what God ordained before you were born. When you surrender to the call of God on your life the blessings will start to overflow and overtake you. You will not have to look for the blessings because you will be living in them. Remember… It is not you who has orchestrated the call. God who is faithful orchestrated it all and He will also do it. Make yourself available!
P.S. Remember this is Pastors appreciation month. Encourage your Pastors this month. After all they encourage you month after month.

Philippians 3:14

Amplified Bible (AMP)

14 I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.

I have been working with this theme called the “Past” for a about a week or so. The reason why I am discussing this issue is, I have heard many people talk about their past and find that they don’t just talk about it they live there. It’s impossible to move forward if the person keeps going backwards. My friend who is one of the Elders in our church said this statement to me on the golf course about 4 years ago… “If the golf ball goes forward it means that you have positive yardage which is forward progress, every inch counts.”  I laughed when I heard that statement because as simple as it is, most people make it difficult. It does not matter the distance, so long as it is moving forward. Forward progress is positive yardage and it is about moving to a desired destination.

A person like myself, who likes to play golf is always looking for distance and consistency. I really enjoy playing golf even when my forward progress ends up in the woods or a sand trap. Why? Because I know that I am moving ahead. The game of golf is meant to be relaxing but most who play golf get frustrated because they don’t hit the ball like some of the professionals. Let me say this to you… They are called professionals because they spend time on their sport. They practice long hours and spend a lot of time making adjustments. Why? So they can improve. This should be the action of the Christian Believer. They should continually practice on moving forward in the things of God instead of settling for last years miracles and anointing.

Let’s transfer this over to the Christian believers life. Just because you have a problem or something creeps up does not mean that you quit. I watch so-called Christians quit and give up when they get attacked in their health or finances or marriage..ETC. This is not forward progress. Paul talks about pressing toward the goal. Just like a golfer who is looking to get the golf ball into the cup (hole), he makes every stride to pick the right club for the distance that he is at. His desire is to get the golf ball into the hole without taking a bogey (penalty) on his scorecard. As a Christian you should be pressing toward the prize of the high calling of Jesus Christ. You should be looking on how to move forward and to make progress.

In my life as a Christian I have had ups and downs but I have not quit and I don’t plan on quitting ever. My plan is to have positive yardage in the Lord, in His Word, in prayer, in my marriage, in my parenting and in Pastoring. I sometimes look back but only to see where I came from. I am not the same as I was yesterday and I don’t have plans to try to make up for yesterday. I am pressing ahead! Do the same! You can move ahead and you will have positive yardage.
Stay constant and be consistent.
