Ezekiel 33:30-33

King James Version (KJV)

30 Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the Lord.

31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.

32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.

33 And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.

With the way everything is going in our world today, the believer needs to stop playing church. As I have said before it is time to stop playing. People have become so used to the feel good sermon that Pastors are more inclined to tickle the people’s ears and hearts. Church! God is not playing! The heart of the matter is that God is doing great things in the Earth and many believers are missing it. Why? Because they want to hear what they want to hear.

Believers it’s time to stop playing and only hearing what you want to hear. Covetousness can and will destroy a person’s heart. I want the people to be encouraged! However not at the cost of going to hell. I want people to be blessed but not at the cost of losing their soul. I want people to succeed but not at the stake of earning the worlds way.

God is pouring out in our Nation and in the World. He is looking for Worshipers to arise. The heart of truth is that the believer needs to step up and step out. The believer needs to listen and obey God. The believer needs to not talk truth but live it.

What is your part? Stop playing church, stop acting, start being real, step up to what you believe, make Jesus known in your family and in your community. Don’t just be a hearer of the Word, be a doer. In the book of James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. Many say they are doing something but in reality they are just talk. Be a doer, not just a hearer otherwise you will deceive yourself.

God is looking for doers and ones who will push ahead. You might mess up but if you do, don’t let it keep you down. Stay focused on Him! Keep your face forward and don’t look back. God is speaking are you listening?

Scripture Study: Romans 3:20-26

Be Blessed!

Psalm 112:7 (King James Version)

7He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

Today is day 12 of the fast. I am so excited to see what God is doing in each of us. I am hearing stories of how God has blessed others and I am excited to watch and see the Glory on the people.

So let’s get down to it… Faith is a fixed position. A position with the ability to change your life and the lives of others. Faith can move mountains. Why? Because we base all of it on the name of the Lord. Why? Because He, being Jesus, said if we have the faith of a mustard seed, we can move mountains. Matthew 17:20
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Luke 17:6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. So are you ready to hunch down and take a position on the front line of faith? Are you ready to fix your eyes on Jesus only?

When you are fasting, you are supposed to get yourself into a position that is fixed. You fix your minds on not eating. Now your stomach doesn’t like this, your flesh is going crazy, but, if you’re fixed on the Word of God, then you shall not waver. When a circumstance comes up, you will not waver because your heart is  fixed on the Lord. Our faith is in the Lord!

The word fixed means to be inflexible. It means to be firmly established. It means to be setup. We are setup as Christians to be firmly fixed in faith and not wavering. How does faith come? Romans 10:17 (King James Version) 17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. So where do you fix yourself? You fix yourself on the Word of God!

Make a choice today… I am not going to be moved by what I hear and see. I am in a fixed position of faith and I will see through all of this in Jesus Name! God is for me and who can be against me. Every weapon that is formed against me shall not prosper and shall not stand. The Lord who is strong and mighty is on my side.

Psalm 57:7 (King James Version)

7My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.

Romans 8:13 (King James Version)

13For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Do any of you like barbecue? Do you like the way it smells? I know I really enjoy a good barbecue! I believe most people like a good barbecue. Barbecuing can be a good time. Getting the meat prepared the way you like it and dressing it with either dry rub or wet rub or just plainly nothing. Getting your pit ready with the right wood and making sure the heat is not too hot but just right. After all you don’t want to have a charcoaled piece of meat. You want your meat as perfect as you can get it.

Just like a good barbecue we need to prepare our flesh the same way. We need to get our flesh tenderized and prepared to receive and hear God’s Word. We need to dress our flesh with the Word of God and we need to prepare it with prayer. Now I know this might sound stupid to some but it’s the truth. We need to stop responding to our fleshy needs and start responding to our spiritual needs. If we are going to usher in the Glory and Presence of God then we have got to get out from under our fleshy ways. We are called to be led by the Spirit of God. Romans 8:14 (King James Version) 14For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

We can see in this scripture that when we mortify our flesh through the Holy Spirit, we shall live. I can already hear it now… Pastor I don’t think I can do this. Well your right you can’t do it but the Holy Spirit on the inside of you wants to do it. Let the Holy Spirit who is on the inside of you, help you to make a good quality decision to put off your flesh. Like “Burger King” let God have His way in your life.

If the Church continues to keep doing things according to the flesh then all we can ever produce is genetically altered religion and mans philosophy. All we will ever produce is death. So as you are fasting today, make a decision to put off your flesh and let the Holy Spirit have His way in you. Give God the Glory and put your flesh on the spiritual barbecue of life and get your flesh burned up so you don’t have to reap the repercussions of living in the flesh. Flesh living will get you killed. Don’t fear though, God has not given you over to being a slave of your flesh. God has given you the ability to receive the Spirit of adoption. Why? So that you don’t have to be ruled by your flesh or commit deeds according to your flesh. Romans 8:15 (King James Version) 15For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

You are adopted into the Family of Life. Walk in your newness. Walk according to the Spirit. BBQ the deeds of your flesh. Do you smell smoke?

Isaiah 58:6

6[Rather] is not this the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every [enslaving] yoke?(B)

So you have been fasting since the beginning of the New Year… What has God spoken to you? What is different about you already? Fasting is done to get closer to God, hear more clearly, be loosed of the bondages of wickedness, let the oppressed go free, and breaking every enslaving yoke. Fasting is a time to rid yourself of toxins. I am not speaking about natural but spiritual toxins. Fasting does help get rid of the physical toxins as well. We fill our lives with so many spiritual toxins that we become a slave of these things. All year long we tend to add more and more junk. Well it’s time to stop being a spiritual hoarder and let go of things that bind you.The only way we can do this is by reading our Bible and Praying more.

During a fast it’s not about how long you can last without food and how much weight you can drop. It is a personal time with the Lord and finding yourself hungry for Him and His Word. During a fast you could find yourself more emotional and asking for forgiveness to all kinds of people. I believe the Lord shows us these things because these are the things that hold us back from going further into His Glory. During a fast I find myself more emotional when I read and pray. I don’t necessarily understand it, but, I do believe it is because I feel the tender heart of God.

During a fast I usually read a specific book and I use it as a personal devotion. I am currently reading a book called “The Power of a Praying Life.” Stormie Omartian is the Author of this book. I am currently on the 5th chapter and I have been quite encouraged. In this chapter she is talking about taking God at His Word. When we fast and pray we really need to make sure that we are taking God at His Word. When I am fasting God’s Word really comes alive in my spirit. Even though I have read the entire Bible, I find myself encouraged greatly. God shows me new things! Sometimes it’s even a scripture I might know really well and He will show me new things about it.

During this fast I am finding myself at a great hunger. My anticipation of His Word is very high and I am expectant to see Him at work in myself and you all. I know this year that God is going to do something great. I am believing for true demonstration and power. I am believing for more people to come to Christ. I am believing God to cause my extended family members to come to Christ. I am believing that our churches will be filled with many new believers and I am believing for God’s Glory to be shown about. I am believing for the Church to rise up and take a stand this year. I am believing for the impossible things that the world says cannot happen. I am fasting and praying for a true revival in the Church. I don’t want last years anointing and wine. I am preparing my life to receive a new anointing and new wine. (I am not talking about wine you drink.) I believe God’s Word and I am getting myself prepared to receive a blessing. Are you ready for a blessing? Are you anticipating the move of God? Are you reading your Word and praying and seeking God’s Face and turning from wickedness?

I am ready for the Church to wake up and be baptized in Holy Ghost and Fire! Come Lord Jesus Come!

Revelations 8:4

And the smoke of the incense, [which came] with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.

God is looking for some on fire Christians. Sure there is a lot of Christians out there that are doing work for the Lord but come on… A lot of them are just boring, doing everyday things that we see that is common to the world. We need to see the Christians of old, like Paul the Apostle and Peter and James and John. We need to see men/women that are on fire for God. We need to see the church smoking hot and on fire for God.

How many of you want to see God do miraculous things? Well, we all would like to see more demonstration of power and authority but, many Christians are not praying and reading their Word everyday. Many are afraid to step out of their comfort zone. Many are afraid to even say they are a Christian. If we are going to see demonstration and power then the church needs to invite the Holy Spirit to do as He pleases. The Holy Spirit can only say and do those things He hears from the Father. Jesus said He being the Holy Spirit can not speak of Himself. John 16:13 13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

I am not afraid and I am expecting great and new things. As it says in the above scripture, the smoke of the incense which came with the prayer of the saints… Where there is smoke you better believe that there is going to be a fire. When we pray, our prayers should be like a sweet smell of incense. Our rooms or wherever you pray should smell wonderful. Why? Because we are offering prayer unto God our Father. We are praising and worshiping Him. Like that commercial about febreeze where someone is smelling their couch and drapes and even other people… We too need to be a sweet aroma. People when they come near you should ask you if you have been at a camp-out, because you smell like a camp-out fire. Our prayers need to be drenched in a sweet incense. Our prayer closets need to be filled with a holy smoke.

You have been given the Holy Spirit to help you and show you things to come. So we should see a fire in all of us. John the Baptist in chapter 3 of the book of Matthew, says there is One who is coming to baptize you with the Holy Ghost and fire. The Holy Ghost is ready and willing and able to work with you. Are you ready to get a fire started?

John 15:5

I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Limitation – a condition of limited ability; a defect or failing.

We as Christians have been told that we are limited. The world and the devil have been telling us that we will never be able to rise above our circumstances and limitations. Christians you are only limited by yourself and the words you speak out of your mouth. When I was a child I used to play a lot of baseball. I was hitting the ball at about 2 1/2 years old. I had great hand and eye coordination. My Dad used to tell me that I could do anything if I would just put my mind to it. When I was little I used to believe what my Dad said. As I began growing up and making new friends I started to listen to them and they always told me that I had limitations. At a young age of about 10 I started to believe everyone else. I started to believe that I was limited. I believed that there were things that I could never do. I not only listened to my friends but I started to speak like that about myself. After about 11 years of this learned behavior, I had some really difficult times. I was finding myself depressed and disgusted about everything. Here I was 21 years old and I was feeling like a total failure. I felt as if I would never accomplish anything. I was limited by my own mind and the words of my mouth.

After that melt down I decided that things were going to be different. I was going to read my Bible more and I was going to pray more. My wife and I ended up in a great church that started to boost my morale and the Pastor was teaching me that I did not have to be limited. I had Jesus who is my source and with Him I could do anything. It’s amazing how my Dad told me that I could do anything. Yet after a few years I learned how the world spoke and I spoke negatively about myself. Then I happened to look at scripture and I heard my Heavenly Father tell me that I could do anything. Since then I have done lot’s of great things. I am no longer limited by this world or by what people say about me.

Today you might be thinking “how will this work for me?” How can I keep going on? How can I do the things that God wants me to do? You can do it because with Jesus on your side you have the winning team. You are a winner!

If you have been fasting and you’re having a hard time then look at your words and see if they are negative or positive. After all you are ruled by the words of your mouth. Have you limited your belief that you can finish this fast? Fasting is not just about giving up food. Fasting is about getting closer to God. Stop limiting yourself with God. God loves you and He wants you to succeed in all you do.

Here is a little excerpt from the book I am reading called “The Power of a Praying Life” by Stormie Omartian. “Jesus enables you to do what you could not do without Him.” Stop trying to do everything on your own and stop trying to do it the worlds way. Look to God and ask Him how He would do it. God will show you and teach you. After all, we are LFL (learning for Life).

Without Jesus we are definitely not going to be able to do anything. We will not accomplish the big things in this life. With Jesus we can do all things. Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me.

So you can finish this “fast” and you can be successful through this “fast.” You can do anything and everything as long as you have the Lord Jesus in you and on your side.

Philippians 1:2

2Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

We should know that this is a Pauline greeting from the book of Philippians. Paul usually greeted this way.

This is a very appropriate greeting. Many times we don’t greet people with peace and love and joy or even grace for that matter. The month of December is supposed to be a month peace and joy on earth and goodwill to all men. The problem is that people say this, but they don’t have Christ in front of this statement. Most people are cranky and uptight. Most people have a Scrooge mentality.

I can admit that I don’t much care for busy crowds in the stores. People hustling and bustling around. The spirit of Christmas can get wrapped in hurry and disgust. Can you find peace in this time of the year? Does peace leave you? If we were to really evaluate this scripture about grace and peace we can see that peace will never leave us. Psalm 122:8 For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee. God wants us to have great peace!

We should have peace like a flowing river. If your peace is like a small dried river bed then in reality you really do not have peace. Peace is never dry! Peace is like a river in your soul. But Pastor, how can I have peace when I don’t have a lot of money and my life feels messed up? You can still have peace because you have the Lord Jesus as your best friend. You have a heavenly Father who looks after you always. Our God is a God of peace and refuge, and He gives peace that is beyond our understanding. No matter where you are in life God extends His peace to all of us. Isaiah 57:19 I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him. God’s peace brings healing to your life and circumstances.

If you are sensing a great storm in your life then speak to the storm and raging seas. Rebuke them and say peace be still to your storm. Mark 4:39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. God will help you work it all out. Our river of peace needs to flow or otherwise it will become stagnant. Our river of peace needs to be deep within our soul. God’s Word says in Psalm 34:14b …seek peace and pursue it.

Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.  The world and all of its facets can not do what my God can do. The world tries to offer forms of peace but it is just a facade. Look at this scripture…John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. So if God says that He will leave us peace and His peace is given unto us… Then what do we need to worry about? What do we need to be afraid of? God also tells us in this scripture to not let our hearts be troubled or afraid. Why? Because if we let our hearts be troubled and afraid we open the door to the devil to run our river of peace dry. If we are dry then how will we pour out? We need to be full of peace, joy and love. We need to put our feelings aside and start focusing on the Lord who is our peace and refuge. Deuteronomy 33:27 The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them. God is our eternal refuge and you can lean on His everlasting arms of great peace and strength.

Isaiah 25:4
For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall. Remember when the storm starts to get brewing then you need to lean back on your scriptures of peace and stay there. We need to remember to keep our peace even through the rough times. Remind yourself daily that you have peace like a river because of John 14:27. The world can not give you peace but your God who is mighty can.

Blessed by the Best,
