Proverbs 15:10

King James Version (KJV)

Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.

Correction is good. Many times Christians run from the very thing that helps them to move forward. Without correction, it is impossible for anyone to make forward progress. Correction enlightens our eyes to see more clearly and our ears to hear without disturbance. Correction helps to keep a person on track. For some reason people talk like they want correction but when it comes they don’t like to hear it. Why? Because it makes them realize the error of their way. The person who hates correction will die. Why? Because they are too stubborn to be put into the right position.

This is how I look at people who don’t want correction… They are like a person who has a vertebrae out of place in their back. When the vertebrae gets out of place it will leave the person in pain and crooked. The vertebrae that is out of place will keep a person from doing the right thing. Like what? Like praying, praising & worshiping God. This person needs an adjustment or they will continue in pain. There are many people who are crooked and absolutely refuse to be made straight. Why? Because when correction comes it’s grievous to this person who has strayed from the way. Why? Because they believe they are doing right and refuse to look inward and consult with the Holy Spirit. Other times they know they are wrong but they are not willing to make a change.

If you think living a life without the Lord is pleasing, then you are gravely mistaken. I have heard this statement from people… ” When I was NOT living for the Lord I did not have all these problems.” My response is… ” Oh yes you did. You just did not recognize the problems because the enemy had you fooled. Your mind was crooked and you were disjointed.” The problem is these kind of people hate correction and when they hear it they pull themselves away. They believe they are right because they are used to doing wrong for so long.

People believe that God corrects with pain and suffering and I am here to say that statement is so far from the truth. It is an abomination to believe God corrects with affliction. God does not make you sick or break your leg to correct a person. Jesus prayed to God that He would send a Comforter. (John 14:16-18) And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

This Comforter (Holy Spirit) will bring conviction when you step out of the blessing of God. He will bring correction through the Word of God. The Holy Spirit only speaks what the Father says. He does not speak of Himself. (John 16:7-16) Condemnation is the one that hurts and delivers pain and suffering. Usually condemnation comes from the enemy but it also comes from yourself. We often beat ourselves up because we mess up. So stop it!

If correction becomes grievous to you, then you will not be in the will of the Lord.  Proverbs 15:14 King James Version (KJV) The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.

Get understanding and receive correction with joy because that means you are willing to move forward and make progress.

Be Blessed!

Hebrews 1:3

Amplified Bible (AMP)

He is the sole expression of the glory of God [the Light-being, the [a]out-raying or radiance of the divine], and He is the perfect imprint and very image of [God’s] nature, upholding and maintaining and guiding and propelling the universe by His mighty word of power. When He had by offering Himself accomplished our cleansing of sins and riddance of guilt, He sat down at the right hand of the divine Majesty on high,

Jesus has purged our sins. He has taken us from unrighteousness to righteousness. The thing that is so awesome is that Jesus upholds, maintains, guides and propels the universe by His mighty word. God’s Word is the same yesterday, today and forever. When you receive the Lord Jesus as your Savior, all your sins are purged. Purged in the New Oxford American Dictionary means: rid (someone) of an unwanted feeling, memory, or condition. The purpose of purging is to get rid of something that holds you back. Purging helps you by propelling you forward. How? When you confess and repent of the unrighteous behavior, you purge out all sin. Sin holds you down or holds you back. Purging brings deliverance. Deliverance allows you to move forward without hindrances. Memories of your sins hold you back and this is called condemnation. Condemnation comes from satan and he will help you to recall your old sins which have already been forgiven. Say “NO, it’s under the blood of Jesus.” I will not look back because I am delivered. I am sanctified by the blood of the lamb. I am set free! God does not remember my sin anymore because His Word says so in Hebrews 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

God wants you to be free from sin, that is why He sent Jesus. Jesus was sent to save human-kind. Let me re-iterate something… You have to call on the name of Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead to be saved. You can’t be saved without confessing Jesus as Lord. Romans 10:9-10 King James Version (KJV) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Jesus is Lord!

1 Thessalonians 4:3-4

Common English Bible (CEB)

God’s will is that your lives are dedicated to him.[a] This means that you stay away from sexual immorality and learn how to control your own body in a pure[b] and respectable way.

God desires His children to live dedicated to Him. He does not want us dedicated to worldly things and its vices. As we see here in these two verses we see the words sexual immorality and control your own body. For a married couple you would think this would not apply to them but that is far from the truth. Even married couples need to keep themselves from sexual immorality. Sexual immorality will corrupt the marriage bed and will open up the marriage for opportunities of committing adultery and other sexual things.

Your eyes are the light of your body. We can find this in the following scripture: Luke 11:34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. What I am telling you is that sex is not the only way to commit an act of sexual immorality. Your eyes which are the light of your body can be used to commit sexual immorality.

Paul tells the us that we are to keep our own body pure and respectable. Your eyes can get you into a lot of trouble. I also know the rest of your members can get you into trouble if you start to entertain the ideas. Paul does not say just one body part, but talks about the entire body. Why? Because he knew that if one member is out-of-place the whole body will end up disjointed.

You can control your own body, but it’s a choice you will have to make every day. Sexual immorality is lurking out there and it is like a prostitute looking to lay down with someone. It will only give you a temporary time of fun. The end results will be misery and disgust. There is so many ads today that are sexual and can draw a person out of living a life dedicated to God. You can protect your dedicated life to God by continually meditating on Bible scriptures.

I used this topic of prostituting yourself because people are doing this by submitting their eyes, ears, mind and heart to junk on television, movies and radio. I know it’s hard to avoid these things but I want you to look at what you think is okay. Whatever you think is okay, your children will go further with. I am not perfect but I am finding myself being more cautious of what I watch and hear. Why? Because the world is the pimp who is showing goods that cause havoc to someones life.

It’s easy to say no and to walk away. It’s easy to be dedicated to God. Why? Because He fulfills everything I have need of. When you decide to be dedicated to something you always give your best and give your all. You can’t give your best to two things at the same time, its impossible. Make a decision. Who do you want to give your time and best too. You can give your best to the world and all of its facets or to God who will give you everything you need.

Sexual immorality will destroy a marriage and a person who is not married. Sexual immorality can get you into things you thought you would never do. Be cautious and keep your eyes on the Lord.

Philippians 3:13

King James Version (KJV)

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

Quite often I hear people talking about how they could have done things better. I often hear about yesterday’s event rather than what God is doing for someone now. Many people dwell in the past instead of the future. Many people talk about the old things and never get out of the past. It seems to me that people like to dwell in the past. We all have past memories and we can talk about the good times. Most people stay in the past though. They don’t even know how to talk about the here and now. Most people don’t know how to talk about good things. Most people talk about bad things.

Paul the Apostle talks about forgetting the things which are behind and reaching forth to the things ahead. His mind was on the prize of Jesus Christ. His mind was looking forward to the blessedness of being with the Lord.

The reason why people do not look ahead is… The have nothing to look forward to. They have nothing to press forward to. They don’t have a prize in life.

Here is an example… If your job says you will get a raise every three months, you will have a goal of looking ahead for that prize. Why? Because you will begin to aim at something. If you played sports like I did… I aimed at titles, championships, medals, and trophies. I aimed for the prize ahead. I would think about the glory of being number one. I would daydream about being the best. I would even dream of being the best. Why? Because I was reaching ahead.

While I play sports for recreation today I still find myself aiming for a prize and I find myself pressing ahead. Today as I Pastor I have a vision from God for our church. I am not striving but I am pressing ahead. I am looking forward to seeing the vision fulfilled. Everyday I have to remind myself of what I have. I have to remind myself of why I have been moved to Houston, Texas. Everyday I am excited about what my day will hold for me. I choose what kind of day I am going to have. I make a choice and stand behind it. So what if something comes up! I can still have a good day. Why? Because I am pressing ahead. If you’re not moving forward, then you have backed up and will eventually crash. Why? Because you have lost your direction.

If you’re lacking vision for your life, let me introduce you to Jesus. Jesus is the Son of God. He was beaten and mocked for you. He received the cross of crucifixion for you. He died and rose again after three days. He showed himself to His disciples and many others. He did all of this because God the Father has a master plan for you to have a good life, for you to make eternity. Now it cost God everything so that you can have everything. He paid the price of sin with His Son. So if you would like to press ahead and get out of your past and get to a place of a vision for your life, repeat this prayer out loud and receive Jesus today.

Prayer: Jesus I ask you to come into my life and forgive me of all my sins. I denounce satan and all his works. I confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior. According to Romans 10:9-10 I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus died and rose again. Today I am a saved. Today I am counted as one of God’s children. I have entered into a new family and I am not ashamed. Thank you Lord for saving me. I pray this confession in Jesus’ name. Amen!

I know that my life changed when I decided to ask Jesus to be the Lord of my life. I still had problems, but I knew that I had a new life that would get better. I was frustrated of not knowing what to do in life. I was honestly mad and I needed direction. Everything changed the moment I confessed Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I just knew my life would get better because I was going to be used to bless the Lord. I had something that I could press ahead too. From this day forward you don’t have to look back at anything. You look forward and don’t let your past dictate your present and future.

Galatians 3:13-14

The Message (MSG)

13-14 Christ redeemed us from that self-defeating, cursed life by absorbing it completely into himself. Do you remember the Scripture that says, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”? That is what happened when Jesus was nailed to the cross: He became a curse, and at the same time dissolved the curse. And now, because of that, the air is cleared and we can see that Abraham’s blessing is present and available for non-Jews, too. We are all able to receive God’s life, his Spirit, in and with us by believing—just the way Abraham received it.

Christ has removed you from that law of defeat and has placed you in the blessing. God’s blessing is available to anyone who receives Jesus. It’s impossible to have the blessing of Abraham on your life without first accepting Jesus. The blessing comes upon you the moment that you accept Jesus.

Jesus took the cross for you. You did not hang on a tree and if you did then you would be considered cursed. Jesus took the curse so that you would not have to. Jesus laid down His life so that the blessing would come upon you and overtake you. Blessing means God’s favor and protection upon you. It also means grace. Grace is the dividing factor between the curse and the blessing. You can’t be blessed and cursed at the same time.

Many times I have heard people talk about how bad they have something, but in reality if they would really look upon their lives they would be able to see the blessing. You will go through trials and tribulations but that does not mean the blessing is removed. It does not mean that grace has left you. Getting through the problem is a matter of your confession of faith in God’s Word. Confession means to speak like God speaks. God does not speak death, He speaks life and blessing. Instead of being stubborn about talking the problem and the cursed things, start being adamant about talking your blessing and the grace that God has made sufficient for you. God’s grace is always abounding and the blessing is always abounding. Stand in your blessing! Talk your blessing! Walk in your blessing!

You might say I don’t know how? Okay… Say this… I am blessed of the Lord. The blessing of the Lord is upon me and it makes room for me always. I am a child of the most high God and I am seated in heavenly places. God’s grace abounds in me and I am a distributor of this grace. The blessing of the Lord makes me rich and I have no sorrow because God will not add that to me. I am blessed and the devil knows it. I am not moved by what I see or hear. I am moved by the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. I am not a curse but a blessing because of Jesus. God is my source and I will make Him known. The devil can’t defeat me unless I give in to him. I will not allow him to rob me of my blessings in Jesus name.

2 Corinthians 4:8

King James Version (KJV)

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

Paul is describing events that are currently taking place. There are problems all around him. People were wanting to kill Paul all the time. Paul’s life seemed to be in danger often. Yet, he was not moved by what he saw or what he experienced.

This is not always true of the Christian. You could get a hang nail and start crying to God about the pain or suffering. Let me remind you that you serve a faithful trustworthy God. He will always answer your prayers and He is always available. God will not leave you nor forsake you. To say your prayers have gone unanswered would mean that God has forsaken you. He sees what is going on but He is waiting on your response. See God is bound by His Word and He can not violate His Word. He is always available and He wants to give instruction for your stress and perplexity. He is waiting for you to sit still for a moment and to listen to His instructions.

Many times I find that when a Christian is in stress or perplexed, it is usually because they are moved by what they see and hear. I am talking about the negative things. Negative things happen. Like your car breaks down. You pop a tire on the way to work in the middle of rush hour traffic. Your dog rips up your couch. Your children drop grape juice on your carpet… ETC. You have to choose to not be moved by what you see or hear.

Allowing yourself to be moved by what you see or hear allows the enemy to keep playing games with you and your emotions. Choose not to be moved by anything other than the power of God. More people are moved by the negative things rather than the positive things. If you are moved by the negative things you could end up being like Job… Looking at things that are not even happening! If your moved by the negative things then you will be caught up in the problem without an answer. Jesus is the answer and He has an answer to your problem. The Bible says Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. If you seek first the Kingdom of God then you will have wisdom to deal with the issue. You won’t give into the negative things you see and hear. Why? Because you will be caught up with seeking first the Kingdom of God.

Everything you need and desire is found in the Kingdom of God. The answer to your current problem is found in the Kingdom of God. Do you want to know how to tap into the Kingdom of God? Start praising the Father and get into worship. Don’t wait till Sunday morning. Do it now!

Matthew 5:5

Amplified Bible (AMP)

Blessed (happy, blithesome, joyous, [a]spiritually prosperous—[b]with life-joy and satisfaction in God’s favor and salvation, regardless of their outward conditions) are the meek (the mild, patient, long-suffering), for they shall inherit the earth!

To be meek is not being weak. The body of Christ is to model Christ. Jesus was patient. New Oxford American Dictionary defines Patient as able to wait without becoming annoyed or anxious. Faith works patience. If you are wanting something from God, get faith working and patience will follow. Without patience you will indulge yourself with anxiety and find yourself annoyed. In fact you might give up and give in, you might even just settle. God Always answers prayers, not whining and complaining. God answers faith prayers because they are the ones that please Him. What are you praying for? Will you put faith to work? Patience will cause strength to take place in your life. Wait upon the Lord and you will have strength. Seek God as your souls first necessity. Work Faith! Stay meek not weak because you shall inherit the earth. The weak die and the meek stay alive.
