Acts 16:25-30

King James Version (KJV)

25And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. 26And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed. 27And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. 28But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. 29Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, 30And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

When you examine this scripture you can see two men who were locked up in prison. They were not just locked up though… They were beaten first and then locked up. They had to have some pain and discomfort. However, Paul and Silas did not let their situation keep them from prayer and praising God.

When you are up against the wall and nowhere to turn, turn to prayer and praise. After all, what more could you do? Anyone can complain and cry out! Turn that crying into joy. Take the opportunity to pray and praise. When you do this there will be a light that you will see. People want to be around people who persevere. I don’t know about you, but, I don’t want to be around depressive people. Depressive people always pull you down. People that are in constant praise and worship always show the light. I want to be around people who demonstrate what light looks like.

Look further at this scripture… It says the guard (keeper) of the prison was awakened and saw the prison doors open and that he was going to kill himself. But Paul called out and said don’t hurt yourself we are all here. This next verse is what becomes powerful. The guard calls for a light! When you pray and praise God will shine His light on your situation. It will cause others to want to know how to be saved. It will cause others to ask what is different about you. It will cause others to view you differently. So let prayer and praise come out of your mouth! It will change people’s ideas about you. Choose to not talk about your problem. Choose to rejoice that your problem will be answered when you pray and praise. After all, prayer and praise unlocked the prison doors for Paul and Silas how much more will prayer and praise work for you.

Praise will bring the light!

Scripture Study: Psalm 33:1-12

Be Blessed!

Numbers 13:33 (King James Version)

33And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

The people of Israel during this time were weaklings. Joshua and Caleb came back with a good report about the land. They did say there was giants but Caleb also responded with “Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.” (Numbers 13:30) Israel was freaked out about the giants being in the land. We know this because of their response when they heard about giants. They basically stated that we are too weak and small to take our inheritance that God had promised.

People we need to see what God is giving us. God has given us the ability to possess our land. The Christians need to make a stand in their churches,  homes, jobs, schools and everywhere they go. God has not given you a bondage of fear, but He has given you love, power and a sound mind. God does not want His people fearful of the giants. Whatever your giant may be, go directly to the Word of God and cast down that giant. Take your authority in Christ Jesus and do some damage to the enemy. David looked small against mighty Goliath but we know the ending of that story. David took that giant in the name of the Lord! He did not stand for someone mocking his God! Everyday there is a giant in your land that is standing and mocking God and you. So what are you going to do about it? When will you stand up and say NO!?

People are leaving churches today and blaming Pastors and the church for not helping them. People are giving up on the church and giving up on God. Some people feel like it is not worth it all. Well if all you do is give up and give in, then you will never be a conqueror! That is not what God’s Word says about you. The Bible says that you are more than a conqueror!(Romans 8:37) You are an overcomer!(1 John 5:5) The church and Pastor can help, but, eventually you will need to stand and fight your own giant. You are not a weakling and you are not unskilled in the Word of God. Start reading your Bible today and find out how strong you really are. Stop looking at your physical abilities and start looking at your spiritual abilities. Your spiritual abilities are stronger than your physical abilities! Your spiritual abilities will make your physical abilities stronger when you accompany it with the Word of God.

Church don’t think of yourself as small like a grasshopper. Think of yourself like Caleb! Go and possess your land. People who are weaklings can not take or possess their inheritance. People who see themselves strong and mighty will possess the land that God has given them. Church remember God never said it was all just going to be easy. As a Pastor I don’t always have it easy. I have hard days just like you and I have days I don’t want to get up and go and fight, but, if I don’t fight then the enemy will try to steal, kill, or destroy. John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. I must fight the good fight of faith and stand tall. When it comes to the Word of God you need to become a giant! Put on your helmet, breastplate, belt, shod your feet, take up your shield and grab your sword. You are a mighty warrior prepared for battle. You are a blessed and highly favored child of God. You are to be motivated in season and out of season!
