Proverbs 17:14

King James Version (KJV)

14 The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.

When reading this scripture what sticks out greatly is… The beginning of strife is like a person who lets out water. When you let out water, it will go anywhere. When you let out strife it will go anywhere. Water can flood a house in a matter of minutes. Strife can flood a relationship in a matter of seconds. If someone were to open the Hoover Dam it would flood cities in a matter of minutes. It would cause immediate destruction and chaos. Water does not care where it goes and how it goes. Water moves quickly. Just like water strife does the same thing. Strife always leaves immediate destruction and utter chaos.

Strife is like water, it does not matter where it goes and how it gets there. Once strife gets in, it will flood every good thing with contention and division. Strife causes destruction and leaves major pain after it raises its ugly head. Strife is contentious and leaves a bitter mark on the lives it touches. Strife between a Husband and Wife will leave a mark on their children and those around them. Strife in a church will divide the sheep from the shepherd. Strife is a tactic of the enemy to seek and destroy. Strife is meant to divide and conquer. Where there is strife there is every evil work of the enemy. When there is strife and contention there is disunity.

The best way to keep strife out is to seek forgiveness, release forgiveness to others and guard against contention and division. Strife settles in to a person’s heart where there is unforgiveness and when the love of God is not present. In 1 Peter 4:8 Amplified Bible (AMP) Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and [a]disregards the offenses of others]. Love covers the multitude of sin. Love disallows the work of strife. To keep strife out, a person needs to have the Love of God at work in them.

To prevent strife, a person needs to practice the Love of God. The Love of God keeps unity and peace. Unity is good because it brings the brethren together. Peace keeps all situations under control. Remember, if you want to be at peace with those around you, then you should keep strife out of your conversations, feelings and life. Cast down strife and watch the chaos disappear.

1 Timothy 1:5

Amplified Bible (AMP)

Whereas the object and purpose of our instruction and charge is love, which springs from a pure heart and a good (clear) conscience and sincere (unfeigned) faith.

Real love and real purpose is what most people in the world are looking for. People want genuineness. The word love is said often without purpose and sincerity. Just because you’re Christian does not mean that you are full of love. I have heard many people say I love you, yet I don’t see it in their actions. Why? Because the love they speak is not of purpose.

Purpose in the Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary is defined as that which a person sets before himself as an object to be reached or accomplished; the end or aim to which the view is directed in any plan, measure or exertion. Intention.

Let me define purpose this way. Purpose is something that a person sets out to fulfill. It is intentional and it comes at great price.

Love is not just something we say but something that we intentionally do. Love is not to be thrown around like words. Love is an action not a feeling. Feelings are temporal and love is not. Real love has a real purpose. Real love is the demonstration of Jesus on the cross for your sins and for your life in eternity. Real love is when you can forgive regardless of what someone has done to you. Real love is not talked about, it’s given with no strings attached. Real love is not about you but about the one who is love. 1 John 4:8 Amplified Bible (AMP) He who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. God loves you and His love came with real purpose. God’s purpose was and is that all humans would be saved. His love for humankind is so great that He willingly gave us Jesus His only Son. That is real love!

Real love comes at a great price. Real love says, “If you hurt me I will still love you.” Real love says, “I forgive and I choose to forget your sin against me.” How is that possible? Scripture says in Hebrews 8:12 (KJV) For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. God, being merciful, is forgiving and not remembering your sin. This is not just mercy but real love with real purpose. God’s purpose for you is to love like Him.

For you to love like God, you will need to know God. How do you do that? Talk to God like you would talk to your friends. Give God your time. For you to love sincerely you will need to purpose in your heart to truly forgive.

Ephesians 4:7

Amplified Bible (AMP)

Yet grace (God’s unmerited favor) was given to each of us individually [not indiscriminately, but in different ways] in proportion to the measure of Christ’s [rich and bounteous] gift.

Jesus’ grace was unmeasurable. Jesus had power without measure. This grace given to you and I is without measure. Grace is of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues. (BLB) Blue Letter Bible.

Because this grace is unmeasurable it means that it is extended to anyone. It is not restrictive. God’s grace for you came from His love for you. If God did not love you it would be impossible to give you unmeasurable grace. If God didn’t love you there would be no way for you to be saved. God loves you so much that He sent Jesus as the saving grace. The measure of Christ’s gift was His death on the cross. It was the greatest sacrifice. It was unmeasurable because it was meant for all humans. However we can’t use this grace to sin willfully. Grace is the gift of bountifulness, acceptance, unmerited favor, liberality, blessings bestowed upon. You can’t earn grace. Grace can not be worked for. Grace is an extension of God’s love for you and for the world. That is why accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior is your choice. Grace is given and it causes favor upon your life. Favor is opening of doors that man can not open and man can not close.

Jesus had favor everywhere He went. I literally started to tell everyone that I have favor. I announce the favor of God on my life. I proclaim God’s grace is sufficient for me and my family. I rejoice over the fact that I am blessed and highly favored. What this does for me is, it reminds me of who I am and whose I am. I am God’s child. I am a son of God. You’re a child of God! That means you are a carrier of grace, the unmerited favor. Because of this grace in your life you are also to extend this to everyone else. Regardless of what someone has said to you or done to you, you must extend grace. After all God extends grace to you when you act crazy or stupid. I am not calling anyone stupid but you can act that way.

Grace is given through the love of God. That is how grace operates. So should you extend grace to someone? Be sweet like Jesus and extend grace. Grace is what will win someone to the Lord. Favor is a by-product of grace. It opens doors, it brings blessings, it sets people free and it loves unconditionally. The grace factor is God’s heart for dying man.

Galatians 5:9

Amplified Bible (AMP)

A little leaven (a slight inclination to error, or a few false teachers) leavens the whole lump [it perverts the whole conception of faith or misleads the whole church].

Interesting what Apostle Paul is talking about here. He basically said the same thing Jesus said in Matthew 16:6 Amplified Bible Jesus said to them, Be careful and on your guard against the leaven (ferment) of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Why did Paul and Jesus say this? What did they know that we need to know. They understood the concerns of false teaching, prophecy and laws.

The church today needs to be cautious of these things. It does not mean that the Pastor will be the one doing it. There are people who will come into a church and say a few things yet they are wolves wearing sheep’s clothing. I say to you be cautious of who you are listening to and who you’re keeping company with. Why? Because they could be the one who is polluting you with their version of doctrine.

Here is a crude analogy of the Believer…The believer is like a filled donut. The filled donut could look good and smell good but they could have nothing but rot on the inside. There is nothing like a Raspberry filled donut. Sugar on the outside and sweet filled jam on the inside. However if the donut has been sitting in the display cabinet for two weeks it might look good on the outside but what is on the inside could be fermented. Taking a first bite could taste good because you might not have gotten to the center of the jam. Once into the center of the jam you noticed something seems a little off. If you continue you could end up getting sick. You will be known by the filling on the inside of you. You will be known by the doctrine you speak and who you keep company with. You will be known by your belief system. Why? Because you will promote what you want and how you want things to be.

Believers who are fermented usually ferment others. 1 Corinthians 15:33 Amplified Bible (AMP) 33 Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations) corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and character. It is very important who you hang out with.

Do you want to be blessed? Do you want the blessings on you? Then fill yourself with the Word of God daily. Pray throughout your day. Sing praise and worship songs. Bless the Lord with all you have. Do this daily. Why? Because you will fill yourself up with that sweet savor that God is looking for. How does this happen? God’s Word is powerful and mighty. If you spend time with Him, He will not corrupt you or let you down. God will encourage you throughout your day and you will most certainly walk in the blessing. Stay focused on the Word of God and you will not be tempted to participate with fermented things. Stay in the Word of God and you will see what is right and what is wrong. You will be able to discern the leaven in people. This is not an excuse to remove yourself but an opportunity to teach someone. Some will not be teachable but some will. Be ready in season and out of season.

Luke 15:20

King James Version (KJV)

20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

Oh what it feels like, when we run to our Father and He embraces us, even when we have messed up. This is something all children desire. As an adult I still look forward to my dad’s embrace. Why? Because he makes me feel valuable. He makes the pain of life seem so small. His embrace is a reminder of how God loves me. I can say that my dad loves me unconditionally. Where did my dad get this from? Who taught him how to love like this? GOD! The Father of fathers! The lover of my soul. The One who made the heavens. The One who shaped the earth. The One who is always watching. The One who gave me Jesus in-spite of my failures.

There are many children who lack the fathers embrace. There are lots of children that do not want the fathers embrace because it meant something evil. The embrace was not an embrace, rather it is or was a restraint meant for evil. Let me speak this as an encouragement… God’s embrace is perfect and lacking nothing. Nothing is required to receive His embrace. God loves the world so much that He gave Jesus. He did this to show His love and to display His arms wide open.

The Fathers embrace is so important. Nurturing takes place in the embrace. Security takes place in the embrace. Love is shown and given in the embrace. The embrace releases the blessing. The embrace supersedes the failure and loss. The embrace is the place! I teach the men and women in our church not to spank their children with their hands because the hands are meant to embrace and love. I recommend the belt because it is something that goes away, but the hands are permanently attached to the disciplinarian. The hands are meant to love, caress, hold up, pick up and lift up. The hands can and do make war but the hands are meant for much more. They are meant as instruments of worship and instruments of tenderness.

Too many children today lack the tenderness of a Father. So men, reach out and embrace a child today! There are many adult men and women that just need a hug and to show the Fathers embrace. Doing so will cause the aches and pains of life to just go away. Have compassion on someone, they know they don’t deserve it, but real love gives all the time. The EMBRACE causes grace to shut down all sin.

1 Corinthians 13:8

Amplified Bible (AMP)

8Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy ([a]the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth].

You and I have been showered in love. We have been clothed in love. Why? Because there is no failure there. Love never fails or becomes obsolete. God who is love, showers and clothes us in His love. The only reason why we can love is that He loved us first.

My sister is getting married tomorrow. Tomorrow will be a total revelation for her and my new brother. Why? Because God who is love will be showing the world what it looks like if the world would marry Jesus. This is one of the greatest revelations the world and the church can have. The showering of Jesus’ love. Jesus coming through those doors.

Jesus is the bridegroom and we are the bride. He is the first love and He will be showering us with His love. We will be standing at the altar waiting as He comes in His righteousness. His train will fill the temple and the people will be gathered. What will we say? I will tell you what I will say… HOLY, HOLY, HOLY is the Lord God Almighty. I will begin to rejoice and shout LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!

Years ago I used to feel alone and left out. Years ago I didn’t feel loved. I don’t ever have to think about that again. I don’t ever have to feel like I am not loved. God loves me so much. There is nothing that I have to prove to Him. There is nothing that I have to do to earn His love. He constantly showers me with His love. His love will never fail me. For love to fail would mean that God would have to fail. We know that God will not fail or become obsolete.

God will see you through any problem and He will rejoice with you! He Loves You!

Scripture Study: Psalm 19:1-10

1 Corinthians 13:6

Amplified Bible (AMP)

6It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.

Love does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness. Righteousness is right and truth. Love always rejoices at truth. Walking out love in your life will cause righteousness to come to the forefront.

People have asked me, how do I walk out righteousness? When you walk out love, you perform all actions of righteousness. When someone has accused you of something that you did not do and you walk in love towards them, the righteousness of God will cause you to supersede the accusation. Why? Because only the right and truth will prevail.

We as the church need to rejoice at the truth. The truth has made you free. Rejoice today! Why? Because Jesus who is the lover of our soul has made us free from sin and death. He has made you and I righteous by His blood. The Church needs to rejoice more! The Church needs to realize the righteousness that we have in Christ Jesus. We are redeemed from the curse of the law! We should rejoice because Jesus paid so that we can be righteous in Him.

Jesus said He would die, rise again, go to heaven and then come back for you and I. He told the truth and now all of us are waiting on a risen Savior to come back for us. We can rejoice because Jesus is just and truth.
