Deuteronomy 15:4-5

King James Version (KJV)

4Save when there shall be no poor among you; for the LORD shall greatly bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it: 5Only if thou carefully hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all these commandments which I command thee this day.

God expects the Christians to take possession. He is waiting on you! In God’s Word we observe the word Possession 104 times. The majority of these talk about taking your possession. As a Christian God has given you a land in which to possess. The problem is, many Christians today are like the Ten Spies that came back with an evil report. They were afraid of what they saw. They were moved by their feelings instead of moved by God. God is the one who told them to possess the land. God told them to go. Here lies the problem… When you are afraid you will miss your session of possession…

When I was a child I used to go to the public pool and swim. They called it the swimming session. You paid 25 cents to swim for 2 1/2 hours. In this swimming session we could jump off the diving-boards, play in the deep end, play in the shallow or just sunbathe. As a child I took what was given to me and I played in the deep end, the shallow end, jumped off the diving-board, and sun bathed to dry off. Why? Because it was available to me. I used the whole pool! Sometimes I would fake like I was drowning because I wanted the lifeguards to save me. I liked them beautiful girls. I was hoping they would give me mouth to mouth. (By the way it never worked.) The key is, I was trying to get the most out of my 25 cents. I was taking what was given to me. I was using it to the best of my ability. I knew what I could do and I knew what I could not do.

Most Christians are afraid of the Giants in the land. Today’s Giants are no different then the ones of the Old Testament. In order to dispossess a Giant you have to possess the land. God has given many great ideas to Christians today; but because they are afraid, they miss the blessing. Because of what it might cost them they are afraid. Taking your possession is your choice and if you don’t do it, someone else might! When you possess the land, you take authority! You receive what has been given to you and you operate with authority. You do whatever you want in it. However you must listen to the voice of the Lord and observe His ways and keep His commandments.

Are you taking your possession? Are you taking what belongs to you? Are you living a life of freedom from fear? What will it take for you to take what belongs to you? Don’t lose out on your blessing because you are afraid. Go! It’s your session of possession!
