1 Timothy 1:5

Amplified Bible (AMP)

Whereas the object and purpose of our instruction and charge is love, which springs from a pure heart and a good (clear) conscience and sincere (unfeigned) faith.

Real love and real purpose is what most people in the world are looking for. People want genuineness. The word love is said often without purpose and sincerity. Just because you’re Christian does not mean that you are full of love. I have heard many people say I love you, yet I don’t see it in their actions. Why? Because the love they speak is not of purpose.

Purpose in the Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary is defined as that which a person sets before himself as an object to be reached or accomplished; the end or aim to which the view is directed in any plan, measure or exertion. Intention.

Let me define purpose this way. Purpose is something that a person sets out to fulfill. It is intentional and it comes at great price.

Love is not just something we say but something that we intentionally do. Love is not to be thrown around like words. Love is an action not a feeling. Feelings are temporal and love is not. Real love has a real purpose. Real love is the demonstration of Jesus on the cross for your sins and for your life in eternity. Real love is when you can forgive regardless of what someone has done to you. Real love is not talked about, it’s given with no strings attached. Real love is not about you but about the one who is love. 1 John 4:8 Amplified Bible (AMP) He who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. God loves you and His love came with real purpose. God’s purpose was and is that all humans would be saved. His love for humankind is so great that He willingly gave us Jesus His only Son. That is real love!

Real love comes at a great price. Real love says, “If you hurt me I will still love you.” Real love says, “I forgive and I choose to forget your sin against me.” How is that possible? Scripture says in Hebrews 8:12 (KJV) For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. God, being merciful, is forgiving and not remembering your sin. This is not just mercy but real love with real purpose. God’s purpose for you is to love like Him.

For you to love like God, you will need to know God. How do you do that? Talk to God like you would talk to your friends. Give God your time. For you to love sincerely you will need to purpose in your heart to truly forgive.
